How do you remove the TV ?

I am considering replacing the stock Zenith TV in the living room. This thing is huge and heavy, and I could use the reduction in weight and the added space.

Looking at it, I have no idea on where to start to find out how to get it out of the cabinet. I don't see any way to move it.

Thanks, Robbie

Peace!

Our older model has two screws in the cabinet above and two in the cabinet below. If yours doesn't come out by removing the top two, look below. Some have reported having to pull the fireplace to get to those screws.

See another Montana or Mountaineer on the road? Flash lights twice, it might be one of us!

Steve,

I must have gotten the cheap model, no fireplace! Must have missed that on the PDI!

Headed over to spend the weekend working at/on TONTOW, will look for those screws.

Thank you,

Robbie

Hi Robbie,

We have a 2006 2980RL. We have one screw through the side wall ( has a cap on it )above the Waterpump, Hotwater switch tank gage unit. And two screws up from the bottom into the feet of the TV. Just about have to take the DVD Player
out first to get to those ones. I took our TV out so I could wire in a new sound system.

John & Dawn,

Yep you are exactly right. Guess I had to have someone with the exact model as mine. There are no screws on top, but I do know about that screw on the side with the cap on it. I'm going to have to take the dvd player out to get the tv out.

Anyone replaced that TV with a LCD?

Thanks for your help.

Robbie

That is my plan and I am shopping around. I removed my TV yesterday and gave it to the Kids. I have a post on this in another forum. It weighs 72 pounds and I had the same 3 screws in my 2955RL. The one in the side was coming loose all the time. I want the space behind the old TV for a towel closet. I can make some models of 26" LCD work. The Toshiba is one of them. The ones with large speakers beside the screen are too wide. I was hoping to be able to get a 32" in there but no way. I am going to use a wall mount bracket and let the TV hang out a couple of inches. I will build a good solid wall about 4 " in from the opening. I won't be doing it for awhile but I will post pics when it is done.
