Pin box

Has anyone replaced the OEM pin box with the Lippert Air Ride box. Pros and cons?

Not a Lippert, but similar concept, I did replace my OEM with a 5th Airborne air ride pin box years ago. And really like it. I did not have a lot of chucking to begin with, but the 5th Airborne eliminated most of what I did have. Plus softens the ride and shock to the trailer. I think it was money well spent.

Will be watching, thinking of doing the same thing. One concern I have is that with the stock pinbox, my trailer pulls very level. Hopefully the trail air can be adjusted to the same point. Also, if you get an air leak, I assume your truck bed clearance is reduced.

Thanks for the input.....any more with experience? It costs over $1300 and I need to know if y’all, with experience, think it is worth it. My motivation stems from the miserable roads in the People’s Republic of California!

Yes we did and will do it from now on on any bigger rig we have. I have airbags on the truck but still hates bridge expansion joints. This helps a lot.

Same here, 5th Airborne worked great.

Took cross country trip 2 years ago. By the time we got there, our backs were "toast" because of the chucking and bucking. Had Reese Fifth Airborne delivered to RV park, installed it, and all of the chucking and bucking was gone! I chose Reese because it's less expensive than Trail-Air and airbag is not exposed to the elements. UV will take its toll.

Just finished another 9,100 mile cross country trip, no chucking or bucking. Bridge transitions don't bother me anymore, although I still grit my teeth (out of habit), don't feel them ar all.

I have had the Trailair system and currently have the MorRide. Both do a great job in the reduction of the chucking and bucking. One thing for sure, I wouldn't buy another trailer without one or the other.

Trailair is the way to go, had one on my 08 Montana and transfered it to my Big Sky in 2013. Probably will never have a large 5th wheel without one.

Trail Air for us - NO experience with others (of any kind-it's not you can test drive'm) but it does ride good

Hi I had a MoreRide and went with the Demco pin box and I am very happy. It made a huge difference with my F350. Very little slack and noise and much smoother doing down rough roads. I fully endorse the Demco line of products.
