Truck Big Enough!!!

Hi I just purchsed a 2006 Mountaineer 329RLS. I am planning to use my 2004 2500HD Duramax 4 door to pull it around. I pulled it 200 miles home from the dealer and hardly new it was behind the truck. Any comments?? Will I need to beef it up???

2030 dry hitch
9835 dry weight.

Looking forward to hearing from you...Al

Yank, You shouldn't have any problems. There are allot of people here pulling heavier with the same T.V without issues. Just keep an eye on the pin weight.
Rick.
P.S Congrats on the new rig!

I also have a 2006 Mountaineer 329RLS, I pull it with a 2001 Dodge 2500 V10 4X4 SB, have only had it out 6 times, but no problems towing it (haven't really been in any mountain areas), doesn't tow much different from my 2000 Golden Falcon 28RLG I had previously.

Yank welcome and congratulations on your new coach. To address your question, I believe you have sufficient power for your type of coach.

Hi Yank,
The first trip Phyllis and I did with our 3280 was from Gig Harbor, Wa to Reno Nevada via the Syskyious(sp) at the oregon calif border. That is a long steep pass, and We experienced zero problems. I pulled the pass without the truck not getting anywhere near high temps on tranny or engine. We average 12 MPG towing and 20.2MPG not towing on that trip. I also have a 2004 Chev 3/4 hd w. allsion.
Great rig!! My understanding is that any of the newer trucks, (ford, Chev, dodge) are great TV's. Just remember like any good piece of equipment you should maintain them properly. We love our Monty and our trip in May is going to be to Northern Nevada to Ely. to visit very old friends whose anniversary is coming up (their in their 80's married when they were 16.

Hey Yank welcome, I went with the 3500 truck because I was'nt sure either, When we pulled up at the dealer to pick up the new monty they looked at my new truck and said THAT SHOULD DO IT. It was kind of A over kill but I feel safe.

We pull ours with a Ford F-250 Power Stroke beefed up with the Banks Power Pack and have no problem towing. From what I've heard you have more than enough with your Duramax.

I have the 2500HD Crewcab Duramax and tow the 3400RL without any trouble. My truck is 100% stock and I have not found a hill or grade I cannot pull. Just follow the service plans and your truck should give you many years of trouble free towing. While towing my coach I average 12-14mpg and empty on the highway I average 20-22mpg.
