Canadian money

For those of you that live in Canada or have traveled there, do we need Canadian money or will our dollars do? We're heading that way 9/16. Hope it isn't too late to see some color.

Each time we go to Canada we only use Credit Card, when we get the bill it already has the PROPER exchange rate. For small purchases American dollars will work, but the exchange rate is never the same.

I agree with RonS. They will accept American dollars but the exchange rate can fluctuate from place to place. I would rather use a credit card for purchases. happyrving......

Ditto on the use of a credit card. Or you can use your ATM card and get Canadian dollars at the current exchange rate.

As someone who is back and forth almost daily I'd say use your credit card and get only a minimum of cash. You can also use your debit card at any ATM and get a fairer rate but with a $1.50 charge. You will get burned most of the time on exchange at the corner store (both in Canada and in the US). With regard to the color change, where are you going...Frobisher Bay? The colors (or colours in Canada) haven't started changing yet.

We live in Canada and I suspect your best route is to do the same as us in reverse when we visit USA. Take some small bills in local currency -say $200 at most. For everything else use credit and/or debit cards. If you run out of cash use ATM.

September is very early for Colour - but based on the crazy weather this year (still waiting for summer) who knows? Just come to Canada and enjoy!
