How High The Monty
Just got done measuring the height of our 2955RL @ 12'6". That's hooked up to the truck with the trailer empty, including the tanks. It was measured from the top of our vent covers at the highest spot. From now on, when I see a bridge sign that says 13'0", I'll hit the gas and keep going.

Was that with no addons, or have you added covers to your vents? Thought the A/C was the highest point on a 2955? Montana claims 12'9" stock.
I have one too, just curious. Have never measured. I added vent covers, always figured 13' and cruised.

Daneboy,
Those 13' bridges, how many times was the road below resurfaced? Add two inches to each resurfacing.
Edited: p.s., I cannot clear 13'. I need 13' 6". Even if I see 13' 6" I am going to stop and check.

I didn't measure at the AC. I do have the add on vent covers. When the rig is loaded, it should sink a bit. Doesn't the highway department change the sign on an overcrossing when the elevation is changed?

Jerry,
Downtown I-25 (Denver) gets down to 13' 0" in the far outside lanes. Yikes - I won't fit at 13' 3".

Jerry,
They are supposed to change the signs to match the height, but at $7-$10 an hour, are you going to chance that they did? And, did they do it the day of the repaving, or planning on doing it?
I just don't know.

In California you can pretty much go by the signs. The state got hit a while back with so many lawsuits regarding this issue that they remeasured and re-signed as necessary. If you notice on many of our streets where re-surfacing has been done that they are NOT re-surfaced under the bridge/overcrossing. They do that so they do not have to remeasure and or re-sign.
That is fine except that it makes for some rough transitions!
Don't know about other states. Perhaps many of them do the same thing.
Good luck.

I have noticed in VA they either grind the road down before re-surfacing under them. Or, as HamRad said they don't re-surface under them. Also noticed that on some of the new construction they are putting concrete surface under the overpasses.

I think if height is posted they have to make sure it's accurate. Still, I'm not very trusting. We're at 12' 10". I know I can do a 13'2", at least the one we did, but 13' 0" would give me pause.

Mine with the second A/C measures 13'3", and I will hesitate at anything under 13'6"
