I've got the exact same rig with a manual slider. I've been towing it for about a year and haven't had to use it once. With that cutaway on the front of the 2955RL it will clear on all but a 90 degree plus turn. In all the places where I might have had to use the slider (Which was ONE) I've been able to jockey the rig in or out without using it. I'm still glad i bought the slider for just the piece of mind. I wouldn't go the cost of an automatic slider. I don't think that is worth it.

I ended up getting the manual slider and am glad I did... parking it beside my house is a tight squeeze and I slid it back today. I'm not sure it's totally necessary but it's just one less thing to think about. One thing that wasn't pointed out to me by the hitch installer is that I have to put my gate down when I slide the hitch back. Luckily, I did it but I was really close to not thinking of it. It really doesn't look like it would hit but it does.

I'm surprised you have to put your tailgate down! I use my slider contantly and have not had to put the tailgate down once yet. Did you get the bedsaver on the slider?
