Lug Nuts
I know that this has been covered before, but I can't find it anywhere in the " search " section.
I have a 2007 3400 and want to change out my lugnuts for stainless ones to keep them from rusting. Everywhere that I check on the web only have 2"long ones and I checked the ones that I have on my " fancy " wheels and they measure 2 1/2" long. I've seen on forum of people that have changed thiers out, any help would be very appreciated.
Thanks

McGard lug nuts are probably what you need. They are not stainless, but they are high quality chrome that will not rust. Also a good idea to get yourself a good 6 point deep socket to fit, and torque them up yourself with a torque wrench, rather than letting some guy loose with an air wrench to hammer them up. I got mine from Summit Racing Lug Nuts

Further to your question about lug nuts, here is a reply I received from McGard about lug nuts for my rig. (verify that yours are the same nuts).

Doug & Susan: I was just looking at the website provided and the company that makes those 'guarantee them for life' not to rust. I've only had my OEM ones on for not even a year yet and even though I polish and try to keep them clean, they are rust covered and pitted.
I also noticed that they sell them in sets of 8, 32 or 100; and if my math is correct you do get some savings in the 32 and 100 purchase. If someone else is in your area and would go in with you the 100 pack might save some $$$..
Best wishes and safe travels to all.

Stainless steel may not rust but it is not as strong as regular chrome plated steel. It is softer.

As KMH3212 comments stainless steel is "soft" and therefore may not meet the requirements of lug nut torque specifications. I have the standard steel version and use the silly little plastic caps to "dress" things up.
