6 Volt batteries

What do you folks think about these?
I'm thinking 2 of these 400 AH, instead of 4 of the Trojans

Ozz, I am happy with my two Trojans in the Blue Sea battery box. I doubt you can find a blue sea to fit that tall beast..

That is a consideration, I also have two Trojans and like them but want more power, the battery box is something that can be made to fit anything. If I have the space in the front.

They do look very tall Ozz and each cell is about 20 lbs there weight would be a factor for me.
I run 2, 6 volt golf cart batteries and they weigh about 75 lbs each. I do know that there are a few in the MOC that run 4, 6 volts and solor pannels, I think the new solar strip that was posted a while back is the answer for more power, or a wind mill. in this day and age betteries should be better and lighter and last longer than 4 or 5 years.

Don, aren’t the Sam's club 6 volt 220AH? Two of these would be 440AH, Two of the tall ones would be around 800AH
The solar cells are just collectors for the most part, the storage devices are the batteries.
At 127# each, that would be another 104#, but you would have to step up to 4 220’s to get 880AH at 300#
I will want around 800AH, so the Trojans: 300#, (another 80 AH)
The tall guys are 254#, at (80 AH less.) I may be missing something here, always a possibility. And you would gain more storage in front as well.
I will have to measure to see if they will even fit.

Ozz, two 6 volt batteries in parallel will double the amp hour rating, two in series will double the voltage rating but keep the same amp hour rating. The weight of two of the 12 V batteries to give 800 AH is going to be close to 600#, and is close to the same weight for any set of lead acid batteries with the same capacity, maybe a little less.

Another big question is how well these will stand up to vibration. Part of the grid design includes vibration in addition to deep cycle capacity and efficiency.

800 AH takes a lot of charging, so you may never get the batteries fully charged unless you run a generator or have utilities. I think it may be overkill, and 500-600 AH in golf cart batteries, or my preference, AGM batteries, would be more practical as an upper limit.

Good points, I guess you can't get too much more AH from battery to battery without the weight factor.
I am buying the Sears AGM Platinum for my truck, I agree about the better battery, not cheap.. I will have the Honda's for charging, and haven't decided on my solar array yet, just collecting info. I imagine I will talk with someone who sells the systems for the package I need. I have 10 Trojan's and a 2500 watt Inverter here at the house for emergency power, works super. (I also have 2 generators for the house, so I may be the 'Mr. Overkill'

I've got three 90 AH AGMs that I'm going to install before we head out to Quartzsite. I got them for a pretty good price as pullouts from large UPS systems. I also have 60 W of solar panels and my two Honda EU2000 units. Since we don't do long term boondocking, that should give me enough capacity to run all our computers, speaking of overkill.
