Door switch for lights

This is for owners with the switch in the door that turns on the interior light when the door is opened. To I needed to remove the switch because it was binding up. I removed the two screws and pulled the switch out and it was hot, no very hot. So I took the switch apart and it is unbelieveably cheap. The design is really bad. So check them if you got them.

Kevin

Ps: my lights no longer work with the door!

I installed a thin aluminum square secured by the top screw so I can swivel it to use it both ways.

I would rather they work on a self activated switch immediately inside the door. Our unit has this switch inside the cabinet which requires you to open the cabinet to turn the lights on if not operated by the door switch. Has anyone used the wires that feed the door switch to power a new switch that can be turned on manually when entering without opening the closet.
Thanks for the heads-up swanny.

I'm thinking of replacing the door switch with a properly rated micro switch. There's too much binding with the factory installed POS switch.

We had the same problem and after talking with our RV repairman, we used a magnetic switch normally used on motorhome doors. We mounted the switch on the bottom of the screen door and extended the wiring from the old switch down to the new one. Works great and the screen door will shut without any problems using the springs.
