Dallas parks

Bill and I are changing directions again and decided to head to the Bush Library and Museum in Dallas. We've stayed at Cowtown in Aledo, but want to be on the eastern edge of Dallas. Anyone have any suggestions.

Since I live a little north of Dallas, I have never stayed at any RV parks in the area. But have read others speak of Bluebonnet RV Park on I-20 near Terrell (good reviews on campgroundreviews.com) and Plantation RV park on US 80 in Sunnyvale (mixed reviews). Both on the east side of Dallas. No personal experience with either.

We definitely recommend the Bluebonnet RV park. We were there last winter enroute to Dripping Springs, during a 2 day ice event. The owners were the most courteous, helpful, people you will ever meet. If you're going that way, make reservations early. we pulled in around March 2nd and they only had a few spots open.

Bluebonnet in Terrell would be my first recommendation.
Our home base is Terrell about 7 miles west of the park right off I29.

Do not use the RV parks in Sunnyville or the other two in Terrell....can't remember the name.

Their is a COE park northeast on Lake Lavon - East Fork Park....would be cheaper (with federal senior pass) 50 amp but no full hock ups.

When we are in the Dallas area we use this park http://www.lake-lewisville.org/hidden-cove-park/ a little hard to find but a great place, and gated at night.

Thanks everyone. There were no vacancies but we found a Corp of Engineers park in Wylie for $15 per night with 50 amp service. Plenty of huge sites.

The Corps of Engineers park is right on Lake Lavon, and is a nice utilitarian park, but be sure to get back to,your site by 10:00, because they lock the gate then and it's black as the inside of a cow if you have to walk to your rig.

Bluebonnet is a great place, right off the interstate, with good access to Dallas. The Old Plantation is behind an old plantation house, as tou might imagine, amd there is never anyone around. Everything is done by phone or internet, and I always feld like an orphan stepchild when we stayed there. It is convenient, though.

Enjoy your stay.

We live about 6 miles from the COE park you selected. It's a nice place with plenty of room to move around. The lake is amazingly low there so you will have a reallllly long walk out to the water. If you are going downtown to the Bush Library it will only take you about 40 minutes to the SMU campus where the library is at. If you have time, stop by the Perot Museum. If you are looking for a good BBQ place you can try the one that is on the corner of 78 and hwy 205, about 3 miles east from where you'll be. Have a good time in my neighborhood.
