Installation of Surge Protector
We've purchased Progressive's 50amp hardwired EMS (surge protector with voltage protection) for our new 3400 and will be getting a local electrician to install it before we hit the road. DH would like to know if you have one of these hardwired units, where did you mount it?
Thanks,
Margaret

I helped NCFISHER install one in Steves 3400. We put it under the steps to the bedroom.
We had to search for a couple of the screws but found them deep in the carpet and it can be removed.

I installed ours on the back wall in the basement on the right side of the rig just inside the basement door. This allowed us to easily monitor it and any faults that may be detected.

Thanks for the info; the pictures are a big help, Jack.
Was the installation a major ordeal for either of you (after you figured out how to get the carpet up, etc)?

The carpet was stapled to the steps you probe for the screws and remove them. They are square heads.

We did not have the generator prep and wanted to be able to run off of a Honda 2000i when dry camped, so the hardest part of our install was figuring out where we wanted to install the generator transfer switch and installing it. After that, installing the surge guard was a snap.
