Goodyear G614's - LT235/85/R16
Well...I had researched many post on the forum about the G614's and the prices that folks were paying and I guess these posts were old because I just checked with the SAM's Club in Niagra Falls,NY and they tell me that tire now is $333.72? Has anyone purchased these tires recently and what was the cost?
Thanks
Greg
Ps. I have also asked TREDIT what they would charge for alluminum Rim and G614. Waiting response.

Holey Moley, I bought a set of five in October of 2010 and paid around $238 each for them (Sam's Club). Talk about inflation!! Did a quick internet search and sure enough it looks like pricing is above $300 everywhere.

If 614s have increased that much it would appear that Mbombs would have increased also.

That was confusing me too when I kept seeing guys saying they were only out $500 to $800 and the best I was seeing was in the $335 a piece range too... A 50% increase since last Fall??

I just got a price from our tire supplier at the car dealership and he could only get the wholesale price to us to $320. They are typically at least 15% under the shopping clubs. Goodyear must be using the hike for the G's to pay the claims for the Marathons.

I have the same unit you do, and opted for Bridgestone Duravis 500s. They meet the weight requirement, are recommended by our MOC tire guru, and are much cheaper than the GYs...which, IMHO are over kill for our rigs.

I bought 4 G614's today for 315.06 each in Olive Branch, MS. I asked for a trade in on Marathons with less than 1000 miles and they were not interested at all. I will try and sell on Craig's list. I have piece of mind now. 2012 Montana 3625RE and I never dreamed I would be buying new tires 3 months after purchasing a new RV. Keystone should be ashamed. The math does not lie. Marathons do not support the weight.

I just double-checked my 3750FL... As per the website, gross weight is 15,740. Less pin weight of 2,240 is 13,500. 13,500 divided by 4 equals 3,375. Maximum tire load is 3,420...... That only leaves a buffer of 45 pounds or 180 pounds total! This does not make me feel safe to say the least.

Since my rims are rated 3500#, I went down to the local trailer shop and had them order five 16" 3750# rated steel rims so I will be able to upgrade to G614s in about a month. Rims will run about $55.00 each after taxes.

I got mine for $800 in October of last year, but that was after Goodyear allowed me the price of the Marathons. The list on 614's in my area was over $300 last fall.

Hmmmm thank goodness the BF Goodrich's didn't go up. Just paid $880 out the door this week for 4 mounted, balanced, tax and also a "no matter what happens you get a free tire" warranty that was $90 alone. I think that was a little cheaper then the last time I got tires. Course I know you can't go with the LT's since you will out weigh the tires.

Seahunter, have you weighed your truck and trailer on a set of scales yet? With our 3400, I found that the specs according to Montana are not always right. I took ours to the nearest truck scale to weigh it. Turns out that we are running 2400 pounds on the pin, and total combined load for the two axles is just shy of 11,000 pounds. Divided by two, that means the axles are supporting about 5500 pounds each, on 7000 pound rated axles. Tire loading would come in at around 2750 each. But, you'll have to weigh your trailer itself to find out what you have.

Hey Terry,
Good point, do need to weigh the actual unit. Hopefully we are going up either this weekend or next to FINALLY get the trailer. We have been waiting for the sofa table to come in which they forgot to order, and didn't want to make the trip twice. It's getting a ride to the dealer in another Montana as we speak. Then we can actually get some real numbers on weights.

Keep in mind that when you weigh it, it needs to be fully loaded as if you were using it (clothes, food, water, basement goodies, etc.). Then add a couple of hundred extra pounds to account for the stuff that will be added over the course of many repeated trips to Camping World or the like!! The carrying capacity of the 3750FL is around 3200 pounds which is a lot of Camping World goodies. Keep in mind as well that if you have a second air-conditioner, generator, washer/dryer, etc. those will deduct from that 3200 pounds.

The cargo carrying capacity is pretty high, but I do have a lot of the upgrades like 2nd AC and generator. I know you have those and even the washer/dryer I think. How close are you to gross weight rating when fully loaded icluding water Bingo?

I do not travel with any water in any of the tanks, I will carry of couple of gallons for flush water if needed (we do not dry camp). I have not weighed the rig, but rather use a little different approach than many (downfall of being an engineer, I guess). I know the dry weight of 12,500 pounds so I account for everything that goes into the rig by it's weight as follows:
Washer/Dryer = 215 pounds
Generator = 290 pounds
2nd A/C = 100 pounds
Dishwasher = 150 pounds
Propane tanks = 130 pounds (40 pound tanks)
Bikes and Rack = 200 pounds
Water Jugs = 128 pounds
Ice Maker = 40 pounds
Ottomans = 40 pounds
Clothes = 150 pounds
Supplies = 150 pounds
Basement Loading = 1000 pounds (this number is an estimate that I am very comfortable with)
This accounts for everything that I have in the rig when camping and totals 2600 pounds. Totalling with the dry weight, this gives me a very close estimate of the loaded weight at 15,100 pounds. Using the manufacturers dry pin weight (to be conservative) of 2240, I then calculate the rig weight during towing at 12,860 pounds. This is the number that I use to set my tire pressures according to Goodyear's load inflation table. Therefore, I need 3215 per tire (12,860/4) and the tables tell me that for a single wheel I need 90 psi for 3300 pounds, 95 psi for 3415 pounds and 100 psi for 3550 pounds. I inflate to 95 psi currently which gives me an 800 pound safety margin. I admit it is not as good as actually weighing the rig (which I still recommend!) but it is how I have done my calculations and due to the conservatism that I have built in I am very comfortable with it.

Bingo, thanks very much for the thorough reply! I am very anxious to see what ours comes in at. We will not be fulltiming, but I know all the items do add up the weight very quickly. Hoping since it's just the two of us and the pooches we will be okay.

Where can I get one of those "Static-Load-Maintainer-Thingys?
If I could only keep that darn dynamic load change from corrupting my scale weights!!
.....I would be able to put Ds on my 2955RL!
