2005 Checklist

We are taking delivery of our '05 2955RL on Tuesday, & would like any info on what we should look for in the way of problems that '05 owners have found in their rigs so far. I've read about the Lippert hydraulic pump problem (hopefully, that has been solved at the factory), but would like to know of anything else that should be checked out by the dealer during the prep. Your help is appreciated...!

Nothing in particular to the 2955RL but if you don't already have the PDI (PreDelivery Inspection) check list than click here>>>> PDI Checkkist

Make several copies of the list and besure to give one to your dealer. Explain to your dealer that following this PDI you will be making a very thorough inspection before finalizing the deal. If he balks or tries to talk you out of this inspection be suspicious. There maybe something he doesn't necessarily want you to see.

We have had no problems with our 2955RL that required us to take it in. Be careful when traveling that the chairs are secure and not rubbing on each other. We have started putting a heavy blanket over the top of one of them. The staples or whatever they use wore a hole in the other chair.

Couple of things to look for, that I overlooked on my 2005 3255RL. These are in addition to using a solid checklist.

1. Run your fingers in the pan under the hydraulic pump for the slides, in the front compartment. If you find any hrdraulic fluid, have them check for leaks. Mine was leaking badly.

2. Check every single water line for leaks.

3. Check the new A/C remote control carefully. Make sure that you can control the temp with the remote.

4. Check the 50 amp power cord for exposed wireing at the trailer end. Mine had exposed wiring, and so did most of the 2005's on the lot. We had to exchange ours for a cord from a new 2004!

5. Make sure that you test the black tank flush. Ours leaked badly due to incorrect mounting on the black tank.

Forgot the most important item.

6. Bring a package of those pre-made cookies that you simply pop into the oven. Since your unit will have a convection microwave you need to test it. Some don't work. Put the cookies on the pan in the microwave and select "half time cooking". Key in the baking temp, and select 1/2 the normal cooking time. Do this test first, and eat the cookies while performing the rest of the tests. Takes about 7 minutes to bake a sheet of these!

The galley drain pull is between the tires on the 2955.
