holding tank handles

When we went to close our grey water tank, the handle was disconnected. Just dangling. Is there an easy way to reconnect it, or are we going to have to drop the underpenning to get up there? Thanks!!

You might get lucky and manage to find the valve and rethread it, otherwise dropping the underbelly is the only other way. It's not too bad of a job. Just remember to get some "Liquid Lockwasher" or other relatively weak thread locker so it doesn't happen again.

I managed to reattach mine a couple of times. It can be frustrating but it can be done. You just need to take your time and "feel around" with the shaft that is attached to the handle. Once you find the mated part that is attached to the valve, just turn the shaft to reattach it.

Now for the hard part! Once you are confident that you can reattach the extension to the valve, you need to disconnect it! Put some Lock-Tite on the threaded extension and reinstall it! If you skip this step, the extension will keep coming off at the most inconvienient moment!

I'm not sure how long the rod is but you might get away with just removing a few screws near the handle in the underbelly, just enough to pull it down and either see what you're doing or reach inside if needed. Haven't had to do this and hope I never do.

Never thought about this , is the rod simply threaded and screws into the valve? By everyones comment Im thinking they eventually back out? maybe by constant twisting as you reposition the handle with each use ? Will tightening them (or at least checking this ) whenever your there help prevent em from being a pain?

Everytime I use mine I make sure they are tight. A good habit to hopefully keep from having a problem.
