Road Advisory for CPRR

For those attendees coming to the CPRR, Interstate 29 in Iowa is open to traffic both North and South. Highway 2 coming off of I-29 to Nebraska is still closed due to flood damage, so don't try and come South or come North on I-29 and expect to exit at Highway 2, it ain't gonna happen!

Watch for further instructions on how to get to our Wonderful Rally!

Well it's time for Further Instructions:

If you are coming from the South Kansas City on I-29 you will have to exit at Rock Port, Missouri exit and head West on Hwy 136 till you come to Hwy 75 northbound at Auburn. Take Hwy 75 till you come to Nebraska City and Hwy 2. Turn right on Hwy 2 and watch for the Victorian Acres sign.

If you are coming from the North down I-29 from Council Bluffs, take Hwy 34, the Plattsmouth exit, and head West. You may run into some delay and some construction because they are still working on flood damage between I-29 and the Nebraska border. It is open however. The only other way to get to Nebraska City from the North is to take the Hwy 75/Bellevue exit off of I-80 westbound in Omaha and battle the traffic in Omaha and Bellevue till you get past Offutt AFB then it is fine all the way down to Nebraska City. Again take the Hwy 2 exit to Nebraska City and watch for the Victorian Acres sign, turn left and welcome to the CPRR.

One special note-- When you come to Hwy 2 from both the North or the South there may be signs that say Hwy 2 is closed but it is open through Nebraska City and just beyond Victorian Acres to kind of ignore the Road Closed signs and continue East on Hwy 2 till you see the Victorian Acres sign and turn left into the RV Park and welcome to the CPRR.

If you are coming from the West on I-80 take the Hwy 77 exit South, take Hwy 77 till you get to Hwy 2 Eastbound, turn left and follow Hwy 2 all the way to Nebraska City and again watch for the Victorian Acres sign and welcome to the CPRR.

If you are in any doubt about road conditions contact either the Iowa DOT or the Nebraska DOT. Unfortunately, road conditions in the Central Plains can change on a daily basis or even an hourly basis as a matter of fact.

Stop at the office as you enter the park and register and pay. They normally will escort you to your site.

Thanks for the info, Ron.
We will be coming from the south and will shift over to US 75 sooner to avoid the snake nest (shudder!) of interstate highways called Kansas City! (sorry Marilynd...)

Traveling I-49 north to Nevada, MO. West on US-54 to US-75.

Per MODOT 136 is closed east and west bound. Doesn't look like you can get across the river from Missouri to Nebraska.
We'll probably cross on Highway 36 at St. Joe.

We came home from Rapid City SD to S Mo. Via I29 S on June 30. The right hand (slow) lane had been washed away in many places. Earlier in June the entire I29 from St Joseph to Omaha was closed.
BTW, I29 is weird going through Kansas City. The interstate has several traffic lights on it. I will not go that route again.

Interesting, I have lived in KC for 68 years and often drive I-29. Have never encountered a traffic light on that interstate. There are some left lane exits off the interstate that are confusing and will put you into traffic signals. If you routed onto 71 hiway/Bruce Watkins freeway which turns into I-49 south of the city there are traffic lights on the Bruce Watkins freeway portion. We wouldn't go in to the politics of that brilliant decision. I-29 south to I-435 loop around the city avoids all that mess but there is still a lot of construction everywhere in KC.

My bad, yup, we were going from i29 to i49 through downtown instead of going around on the loop.

UPDATE--UPDATE--UPDATE-7/25/19 JIM IS CORRECT CONCERNING THE EXIT WEST ON 136 AT ROCK PORT IS CLOSED!!!! We had friends come up from KC and they informed us that the westbound 136 is closed. Our advise is to take West 36 out of St. Joe, MO and come north to the Good Life in Nebraska via 75 if you are coming to Victorian Acres from the South!
Thanks Jim for the update also. See everyone on Saturday and Sunday!

We made it in today, after deciding on making it a long travel day. Whew! We came from the north, 90 to 29 to 34 to 75S to 2. We didnít run into any construction, just a lot of one lanes, but they moved along. So sad to see all the damage to the homes, the land and roads. Weíll...we did end of having a couple of detours. Let the rally begin!!!!

You all are right about the KC area. If it ever gets done, 435 and around will be great. We tried to avoid it at all times. See you all real soon.
