fresh water tank specs error

Probably not a big deal for most campers, but I discovered today that the specs for freshwater holding tank on 2019 model 305 RL is in error. The Keystone webpage identifies the fresh holding tank at 66 gallons. With a flexible camera I was able to visualize the part number on the side of the tank as W1468.manufactured by Ameri-Kart. They confirms that this is a 50 gallon tank. I spoke with Keystone customer service today. Agent placed me on hold returning saying that she had spoken to management and that there was nothing they could do about the variance. Apologies made and end of discussion. Suggest to club members, be suspect that specifications stated at time of sale and on Keystone's webpage as of this morning are invalid, you probably have a much smaller freshwater tank capacity then published.

I had this discussion with Keystone a few years ago and they include the water heater as part of that spec. I don't think it still adds up to 66 gals.

This is my experience as well.
First time we did dry camping I planed to fill 10-11 x 6 gallon canisters into it.
It was full after 7.

Thanks for the facts and my peace of mind now.

Nice find and thx for sharing. Their brochures say specs can change without notice. Has anyone unexpectedly received better components than advertised?

I understand corporate's decision to change specs at their discretion and how difficult and expensive it is to update literature, but the webpage as of yesterday was still stating inaccurate info. Additionally, my trust in the Montana brand has been tainted. The interaction with customer service and the unwillingness to even pursue a reasonable compromise forces me to embrace the notion that corporate is driven more by profit margin that it is satisfaction of customers.

The hot water tank is added into the figure for the number of gallons of fresh water that you have. It is surprising, or maybe not, that the person that you talked to at Keystone didn't know that.

Your 12 gallon water heater is part of your 66 gallons. That leaves you 4 gallons short of the published. If that is your worst complaint I think you are doing pretty good

Your kidding, right? It is hard to believe that Keystone's main focus is making money.

I noticed the same exact thing with my unit. In fact the same issue is present with the waste water tanks. My waste water tanks have a sticker that says ht543 Ameri kart. I looked it up and it says its a 48 gallon tank. Unit is listed to have 93 gallon gray water capacity. To test how much will go into the black tank, emptied 11 nearly full 5 gallon buckets of water down the toilet. It would have taken more but I did not what to chance busting any seams.

Don't you have two gray water tanks?

I guess I am confused, 2 @ 48 = 96; real close to listed capacity of 93.

I recently conversed with Keystone and they told me the published 66 gal in 3810/11 MS was indeed the FW tank capacity and the water heater was not included in the number. It's clear somebody has bad information. For those doing a lot of boondocking, this could be an issue and a potential deal breaker for some. We are considering the 3810/11 and the difference between 50 and 66 gallons may not seem like much but that means carrying extra water in situations that require it. In my mind the difference is significant. Obvious next question, is there a way to upsize the tank (remove and replace with a larger one)?

thank you BiggarView -- we also boondock and moving water from A to B is a BIG deal -- and if we would have know only 50 gal tank -- it would have had bearing on decision to purchase this model RV --

If I was going to guess, I'd say they had an inventory issue on the assembly line and put in whatever was available expediently. Without being there, of course, there is no way to know for sure. Their "out" is the language that states that specs can change without notice.

For future buyers, your defense is to add a clause to the contract that specifies verification of the latest published specs at the time of purchase for the actual delivered unit and desired remedies for failure to be within those specs. Or words to that effect. If they sign off on it... you're protected. Such discoveries do not give potential buyers a warm fuzzy feeling.

We had some concern for only 66 gallons of FW but we already have two 7 gallon containers that we intend to bring. We may end up getting two more. All would be carried in the truck bed.

All this is exactly what I mean. 93 is 93 96 is 96.....

What if you apply the same thing to your trucks fuel tank. My trucks tank is stated at 36 gallons. If I ran out of fuel and could only get, say 33 gallons in it to fill it up, I would be pissed off.

RV manufacturers need to state the facts, and not some convoluted way of increasing the #s

You should complain to Keystone because your unit holds an extra 3 gallons of gray water.

You are apparently WAY more accepting of the inadequacies of the RV industries than I am. Some day they will be forced to get it right. My truck (Duramax) holds 10 quarts of oil with a filter change. No guessing, drain it change the filter, put in 10 quarts done.

Yes, when I purchased my 2018 Montana 3921FB we were told it came with the 6 gal(?) hot water tank. I was pleasantly surprised when it was delivered with a tankless hot water heater which is really necessary for a full residential bath tub. I did however miss out on a later upgrade to disk brakes. Bummed but appreciative.
