New Rig

We pulled the trigger on a new F450 last week. Traded our 2014 F350 SRW which was a great truck, but it was a slightly overloaded; mainly the rear tire specs. We enjoy the new rig, especially all the cameras and navigation system; Alta is becoming a pro with it. (I know, still have to adjust the hitch; this photo was taken first time out)

Scott,

Congrats, looks great!

I know you can not replace Kodiak but have you started to look for another best friend?

Hope all is well with Alta and you.

Congrats on your badass truck. If you can’t tow it with that beast, it must be a house. We got our new F350 DRW a couple of weeks ago and can’t wait to see how she tows. The salesman said that, if GM or Dodge comes out with more hp or torque, Ford can just tweak that 6.7 to get whatever they need to stay ahead. Happy trails.

Beautiful rig, what trim level did you get? I have the exact montana but a 2016 and I’m thinking about upgrading from my current 2016 crewcab shortbed f350. Keep me posted on how much better the towing experience is.

Congrats!! We love our Ford! The F350 dually was a world of difference in towing vs. the F350 SWD that we had originally and traded in because of being over on payload.
(Hubby would have loved to have had the F450 version because of the better turning radius! … he loves to make comments like "you know I could have made that turn easier if I had a 450!"...to which I tell him NO MORE TRUCKS!

I have the Lariat trim. I went with the F450 because it was about the same price as the F350. It is hard to find the F450 in stock (did not want to wait on special order), but we found a dealer that had about 10 F350's and 3 F450's; made the deal. The turning radius is amazing. It tows very nice, but so did my F350 SRW. The DRW may be a little more stable, not sure yet. Please, let's not get into a discussion about the merits of each; they are both capable vehicles and this has been beat to death multiple times. My main concern with the SRW was being over the load rating on the rear tires. We also wanted to upgrade to the all the new navigation and camera systems. Everyone enjoy your truck, whatever it is.

Congrats on the new truck.
Not sure the stated rational of the old 350 was struggling...but I understand if you want to sign that story to the other half.

My reasons that I want to upgrade is the same as you. I love the new electronics and cameras in the 2017+ models. Also, I currently have the 6.2 gasser with 4.30 gears, it does ok but it certainly isn’t no diesel. One of my biggest complaints with the gasser is actually finding pumps to accommodate a big rig with a gas engine. At this point, I am just gonna wait until the 2020’s hit the dealership and see how they are working out. Not in a rush.

My F350 SRW rear tires were rated at 3195 each. I had 3950 on each of them; everyone make their own decisions. She loves the new truck, especially the heated & cooled seats!
