King to queen mattress

Would like to know if it is possible to take out king mattress and put in a queen? Not sure how we would get out king to put queen in. Probably would have to put in 2 twins. Help would be appreciated.
Thanks

We just ordered a memory foam mattress (queen) to replace our current king. From the advice received on the MOC forum, it is simply a matter of cutting the plywood base down to queen width. We thought long and hard about doing this in order to have adequate space to move around the bed/make it up each morning. With the king, it is a tight squeeze between the forward mirror doors/wall and the bed...just too much of a hassle every morning. I know giving up the king bed would not work for a lot of people, but it will meet our needs.

We got lucky, well I did. Wife wanted a king bed so that's what got ordered in our new monty. The unit came through with a queen, go figure, anyway I'm happy and $200 to the good.

I replaced our king mattress with a queen and did not have a problem. I sawed 6" off each side of the plywood that supports the mattress. I just rolled up the existing king mattress and carried it out. The new queen mattress was about 10" thick and I just pushed and shoved it into the trailer by myself. DW was upset that I did not wait for her help but it was rather a simple procedure to get it in to the trailer. Good luck.

Same here. We had the dealer cut down the plywood, left them the king mattress and put the home style queen mattress we had in our TT in the Monty when we traded.

We replaced our OEM king with a sleep number queen. Ken cut the plywood base and we are very happy with it. Now I don't have to make the bed from the closet!!! Works for us!!

We kept our king size, rather we replaced it with a memory foam custom king that is 72" X 80". A regular king is 78" X 80" and a California king is 72" X 84". Making the bed is not a biggy for us. We use a Travasak, so there is no tucking at the head of the bed. Simply pull up the spread in a display fold with stacked pillows.

We went from the king to queen. I cut down the plywood to accomodate the queen and sanded the edges smooth w/o a problem. it's nice to have the extra room on the sides.

Did it first thing last year when we bought our '06 2955. sold the king matress for $45 and ordered a memory foam from overstock.com at a really good price. It was easy to cut down the plywood base and we like the queen much better.

From King to a 16" thick Queen. We love the extra room.

Taking your time it’s about a half hour job, ok I guess it could be stretched into an hour. On ours it was just a couple of simple cuts along the lower sides of the bed platform and swap out the mattresses. The base width for the king size part of the bed didn’t go all the way up into the slide out so it was a simple cut to just follow the edge along the rest of the lower part of the platform by the foot of the bed. The worst part was cleaning up any saw dust remaining. As mentioned, it’s nice having the extra room around the bed.

How did you get your king mattress out of the bedroom? Roll up? What about putting in the queen? Same way?

We lucked out..our dealer orders all stock units with the Queen bed.
Big reason is more room in bedroom. Also with a king, you have to open the closet to make the bed!

We did it on our previous 3400RL and it worked great. Very noticeable extra floor space. We just received our ordered 3585SA and bedroom is even better now with queen bed and the extra 6" that the slide deploys. We had no problem on the 2008 3400 removing the king bed.

We took out the king which came with the camper. I didn’t have a problem getting it through the doors. The king size came out fairly easily by turning it onto its side but it’s much better if you have some help. It seems to be somewhat bulky when working with it. The one we placed back in was a regular queen foam mattress and we put it in also by turning it to its side. We have the 3400 and this wasn’t a problem. I don’t know exactly how your camper is laid out but I would think that it should work about the same way.

The queen we ordered is "regular." Had my fill with the "short" mattresses....
