A year's worth of repairs

We have been full time for just over a year now and have put about 18000 miles on our 2007 Montana.

In that time, I have had to replace the window in the bedroom ($270). It just broke going down the road. I put $80 worth of new gears and pins in the driven landing leg. And, now the biiggie, I am going to have to buy a toilet seat. I did put on new tires, but that is to be expected with any trailer. I might have used $1 worth of grease in the wheel bearings. I really don't know if any other manufacturer could make a better trailer. I am so pleased with the low cost of repairs. We are full time with just social security and, believe me, low cost is better than good. It is wonderful.

Really great to hear someone praising their rig. Seems like we only hear folks complaining which is only natural I guess, but still great to hear praise also. We were very happy with our 2007 2955RL and the only money we put into it was for tires also. Hope the new High Country 318RE holds up as good.

I forgot I did buy an electric heating element fot the water heater, $32 or so. I can understand people being upset by having to spend hundreds or even thousands on repairs. But, I wonder how many there are like us that have very low repair costs. Do you think we ought to start a poll?

So far we are far below what I used to spend annually on the stick home. Considering our rigs are rolling earthquakes we've been quite happy with ours.

Despite a few minor issues and dealing with a dealer who can't get it right, we are very pleased with our 2012 3625RE Big Sky. We feel spoiled when we get to use it.

Our 2007 3650RK has held up wonderfully - especially considering the harsh winters here. Other than upgrades and fixing a cracked shower basin which was totally our fault, I do not recall any expenses for repairs - even after living in it 2 full years. I do remember having to replace the 12V fuse panel sometime in year 2 after a loose wire got hot and made a melting mess but that was a minor expense I was able to fix myself. We have had 4 RVs over the years and this one has held up extremely well. We too are very pleased.

We usually take about 2 separate trips set aside for vacation time lasting between 1-2 weeks each year. We also enjoy several weekend trips when we can. Other than cosmetic the biggest thing we’ve had to do is the tires, landing gear pin and we had the brakes looked at and had the wheel bearings re-packed. I do believe in Preventive Maintenance wen practical.

I'm glad to hear how well things are going for you. Outside of my home, my Montana is the single most expensive thing I own.

I should correct that, I paid about twice as much for Monte as I paid for my home, but then I bought our house 36 years ago. My house continues to appreciate, but Monte is steadily depreciating.

I am with you Halfwright. We haven't really spent anything on repairs. Added some stuff for full timing (2nd air, washer/dryer, surge protection, and Travler dish). Had to spend $4.00 for a cap on roof top sewer vent that blew off in storm. I try to do some preventive maintenance inspections once and awhile to catch problems before they get bad. From talking with owners of SOB's it seems to me that our Montana is built pretty well and should hold up to full time use.

Bought our '07 new. 6+ years, 19,000 miles, and 178 nights so far. Replaced the no-name DVD/sound system when it failed, replaced the 1/2 Time micro/convection when it failed, removed the black tank flush anti-siphon valve when it failed. Other than that a few light bulbs and that about rounds it out. Nothing has failed with the trailer itself. I did replace the Missions with Michelins after a year.
Graphics just started showing some curl this year.
Nothing to complain about here.

The first year of ownership of our 13 3402 Big Sky has not cost us a dime since it was under the Manufactures warranty. In 7 years in our 06 3400 the total repair cost to us was only 400.00 thanks to the one year manufacturers warranty and our Extended warranty with 50.00 deductible. Tires do not count as we changed out our Missions after 10K and ruined our Coopers when our axle broke loose. Other than that we have been trouble free.

Only spent $400 including a broken axle with warranties? Not bad richfaa but I'm guessing you aren't including the cost of the warranties!

We only had the 1 year factory then a 2 year extension from another company. The only serious problem we saved money on by the warranty was when the fridge went kaput. Other issues I fixed myself (front door lock did not engage, front light switch failed, replaced & upgraded slideout autobreakers) and the only big expense was having wet bolts installed ($1,000). Oh yes, I did replace all the Mission tires to Marathons, doh, because I was not an MOC member yet and didn't know any better. That cost about $1,100 But now, it's getting close to replacing the Marathons, too. I priced the Maxxis at about $1,200 for all 5.

I don't consider all this, all that bad. I'm not counting all the improvements and gadgets.

i think Dick said best "it is a rolling earthquakes " i look at what i sent on my old gal there was the big bill of $10,000.00 for the frame felx but USSA pick up that bill the DW and i have been doing this for a few years and the money i have sent is still way less then what i would have spent on a stick and brick house as far my old gal goes i do not think that theres is any other 5ther out there could hold up any better then this one even 100,000. units have they same prombles but the sad part is that you would have pay way more

At 50.00 deductible that is 8 hits on the extended warranty. The warranty purchased in 2006 on the 06 3400 was just under 1100.00 for 7 years. It paid for itself many times over. We used the 06 hard with over 50K miles traveled, all considered it served us well. The fridge on this 13 3402 already failed and was replaced under the manufacturers warranty. We do have the G.S extended warranty on the 13 3402. Frame flex was repaired by Keystone on the 06 3400.Five, I say 5 failed holding tanks on the 06 3400 all covered by warranties. As has been said these things are rolling earthquakes and many of us use them far harder than a recreational vehicle was meant to be used. We had 4 prior TT's before we went longtime with the 06 Montana and put more miles on that 06 in a bit over one year than we put on the previous 4 in 17 years. We were aware of the quality issues long before we purchased and there have been no surprises..Disappointed perhaps, but not surprised. All things considered we are happy Montana owners and happy with the service from Keystone..
