The nicest (my opinion), tho probably priciest is Grizzly something or other park. Very clean and good roads and sites. I thought no cable and/or internet but see now they have both, tho internet costs. I haven't stayed anywhere else, so can't speak to them. Although I looked at one - I think Pony express - and it has tight sites, if not mistaken.

We have stayed at Grizzly the last two years and were very pleased. It is clean and well maintained plus the sites are not on top of one another. It is the best for seeing Yellowstone.

Red Rock RV, 20miles from west. At least half the price and you get free internet.

We stayed in Grizzly last June for a week or so. Beautiful park but pricey, only 1/2 mile to entrance into Yellowstone. Also nice bear and wolf santuary there and a small museum. KOA down the road also looked good.

Yellowstone Grizzly RV Park: www.grizzlyrv.com, 406-646-4466. We've stayed there several times and like its location, close to the business district of West Yellowstone and just minutes from the west entrance to the park.

I need to add that we've never tried any of the other places in and around West Yellowstone; we do have friends who have stayed at and really liked the KOA campground just outside of town. If you're making reservations online, be careful if the park/site descriptions are sketchy and you can't see any pictures of them or a map of the park. At least 2 of the places we did check out in town looked like packed tins of sardines--crowded, very small sites, very difficult to wiggle into a lot of the sites (or so it seemed to us). The Grizzly RV Park is nice and wide open, with paved sites, landscaping, and lots of room.

Carolyn

NOTE: I just compared prices between the Grizzly RV Park and the Red Rock RV park. Next time, we're going to give the Red Rock park a try. Its prices are about half of the prices for comparable sites in the Grizzly RV Park. Even though it's a bit out of town, the scenery in the area is so pretty that we won't mind having to make that drive into West Yellowstone a couple of times while there.

Another vote for Red Rock Rv park. We have stayed there twice an enjoyed it. Out away from town with just the mountains.

We stayed at the Rusty Wheel RV park, West Yellowstone. It is small and quiet. close enough to down town that even Karen would walk to down town. Not a lot of thing like pools and kids stuff.

West Yellowstone is a great jumping off point in to the park. Personally never stayed in West Yellowstone.

Fishing Bridge inside the park is also a decent location but last time I stayed there it is only 30amp and you are real close to your neighbors. Plus they are all back-in, no pull thrus, if that is a issue for you.

We like to stay in Gardner @ Rocky Mountain RV. We go at least once every season, twice most years.

We have stayed at Fishing Bridge also and will go back. We're not at the rig long enough that the closeness is a problem. We're usually gone all day exploring the park or run over to Cody or something. It is a great central location.

We were at Fishing Bridge again last summer. All the electrical upgrades are finished so now you have 50amp. It is back in but I didn't have too much trouble getting my 39' backed in with a few spotters. I prefer it for convienence over West Yellowstone.
