Mountaineer Clearance with Dodge

I have a 04 Ram 3500 dually quad cab 4X4 and we ordered a Mountaineer 346LBQ. We had a Crossroads Cruiser CF31QB and I had exactly 6" of clearance to bed sides. There is a hill I have to go over coming into our house where the back of the bed sides/tailgate would almost touch the underside of our old 5er. How much clearance can I expect to have with the new 5er?

That depends on the adjustments or setting of your pin box on the Montana. You have just stated what you need so you should ensure you have that much clearance before you pull off the dealers lot.
Best of luck and hope this helps.

I guess more of my concern is if I am going to have to be nose high with the camper to achieve the 6" of clearance. Both our Cruiser and Jayco had multiple points for the springs to mount to raise the height of the campers and they both were in the lowest holes that made it the highest it could.

All of us, when we get new rigs, have to hook up and then adjust as/if necessary for proper clearance. Sometimes a tradeoff between level pull and adequate rail clearance. You didn't say what size rims you were running.

4X4 with 17 inch rims may make it tricky to be perfectly level. My 2005 Ford had 18 inch rims and was a 4X4, and I got necessary rail clearance but could not get a level tow. Montana still towed well even with the nose up a bit, only irritant was difficulty in leveling the trailer front to rear without unhitching during one night stops. I now have a 4X4 with 16 inch rims, and Montana is level on tow with adequate clearance on the rails. I see Montana's being pulled all the time with Dodge pickups.

We have a newer truck and don't have a Moutaineer edition so take this for what it's worth. Our 2500 HD with air bags sits so high that I couldn't hitch to a motorcycle trailer the other day even using a six inch drop receiver hitch. On the other hand the Monty pulls close to level with plenty of bed rail clearance. With the new hitches and pin boxes my guess would be you'll be able to work it out just fine.
