Value of RV

I have a 36.5 ft. Montana, four slides, 2004,RK, vacuum, outside shower, fireplace kitchen has two slides w/island lots of extras and is a full timer's dream. It has made four round trips from Arkansas to Texas during the past five years. We bought it new. I am thinking about selling and need some help as to the value of the Rv...tires are still in great shape. Have never had any problems with any thing.

Check www.NADAguides.com to get a feel for the value. Naturally it has to be priced right in these times to sell. Be prepared for some haggling but you should have no problem selling a Montana. Good luck.

Someone also suggested checking current list price on unit on lots. Here is one site that may give you an idea.

I would not put a lot of faith in the NADA values. It shows our '07 retail value to be nearly what we paid for it new over 2 years ago. That would be great, but not likely to happen.

And local values can probably vary a lot. You might go "window shopping" to a local Montana dealer and ask what he would give you on the unit as a trade-in. That would give you an idea of what the local retail price for the unit might be. If you can put a reasonable price on it, I don't think you will have any problem selling it with the economy coming back. We looked for quite a while for a good used Montana before buying ours. But not many good used Montanas were to be found. Ended up getting a good deal on a new one.

You might look at this site. It is not a free service, but I used them to help price out my new 3400 when I bought it and I was impressed with their service. They might be able to help you "Set a Price" for you to sell.

www.rvs-r-us.com.

Hope this helps.....

I too looked at the NADA Guide, it listed my 2007, 3400RL as worth $53,000. I checked local ads for the same RV and found the average asking price was $39,900. I listed it with RV Trader and craigslist for $39,900. Aside from being plagued by some outfit called National in Colorado wanting to "sell it" for me, I had one reasonably serious looker who offered me $27,000. I said no deal I am not giving this beautiful RV away. I told my wife I am going to get a portable oxygen machine and she can follow me with my mobility vehicle on the back of the car. To H_ll with it. I may be falling apart but I'm not dead yet. Old GI!

A friend recently sold his 2007 Montana--a 2985. A dealer gave him the wholesale price of $27,000 and sold it in less than a week for somewhere near $32000. I would not expect more than wholesale from any dealer. The unit was in excellent shape. I would think to sell a 2004 unit--new tires would be required at a minumum.

When we first shopped for a used fiver, could not find a Montana on the lots. Every dealer said they sell as soon as they are placed. THis was 4 years ago and we ended up with a Cedar Creek. Hopefully you will find a buyer real soon.

The NADA Recreation Vehicle Appraisal Guide for 4th Qth 2009 does not list a '04 3650RK. According to the book, there were three RK's built that year: M-2850 RK 30FT, M-2950 31FT, and a M-3295 RK 35FT.

I suspect your's is the 3295RK. If so, the three numbers for that unit are: Suggested List Price $46969
Used W/S-Trade In $16370 (What dealer will give you)
Used Retail $21630

Hope this info helps.

If the tires are original, they are not in good shape! At 5 years, trailer tires are reaching the end of their recommended life cycle no matter how good they may look.

If you do have a 3650RK I bought my 06 3650RK from a dealer a few months ago for 27000. cash if you are a buyer it is a good time to buy but it is a real bad time to sell. I have a Prairie Schooner that is worth about 38000. I have it listed for my payoff of 26000 but no real good offers. Good luck.
