Vinyl plank flooring

I've read both the threads (carpet replacement and vinyl flooring) but I'm wondering whether one can put the vinyl planks on the slides as well or must they remain carpeted so they can be closed without scratching the vinyl on the main floor...? I've only seen one unit with the plank flooring and they left the slides carpeted. Think it might look roomier to have it all the same.

I did the laminate on my 99, 2750 Montana and just did the floor and not the slide. I understand from some other posts that someone had probems when they tried to do the slide also, problem was the gap between floor and slide

I looked at an older SOB here in the park that had the slide done in the same laminate as the floor. There was a profound ledge along the slide when it was out; probably 1" high. I think when I ever do the vinyl, I will either leave the present carpet, or have a new higher quality piece installed in the slide area. That ledge just wouldn't work for us.

Thanks for the replies. Sounds like it's best to leave it as I don't need problems with the slide and I wouldn't like a gap either. The reason I asked was the carpet under the desk is getting a little shabby--husband is on the internet a lot. I probably should have had a plastic guard under his chair.
