Full timing insurance
My wife and I are full-timers. We purchase insurance from Good Sam and are concerned about the cost. We move the trailer (5'er) only a coupe of times a year, (to the summer home and then back to the winter home) the truck gets driven more often just to keep it alive and the Honda car moves around a-lot.
It seems our insurance charges us as if we are consistently on the road with the trailer.
Have any of you found a reliable and reasonable insurance company that understands this unique situation?
Thanks,
Paulinbaja

We have our full-timers insurance with Progressive. I think much depends on what options you pick with your full-timers insurance package, such as deductibles, replacement costs, etc. I know when we recently went from a 2008 3400RL to a 2014 3725RL our insurance went up a bunch. Progressive only seemed concerned with where we would spend "most" of our time, and not if we were traveling all over constantly or sitting still. Depending on how new your unit is and what type of full-timers insurance coverage you want it could be up around $900 a year.

Did you check with GEICO? I switched from Progressive to GEICO about 3 years ago and saved a bundle and increased coverage too. We are also full timers.

We use Blue Sky to place our coverage. It's high, but we expect it to be for what we want our policy to cover.

I just have my trailer on my State Farm policy. They will let you drop part of the coverage (keep the comprehensive or whatever it is that protects against nature and theft) with just a call. But I have never done it, since I am too lazy. I probably could save a couple hundred a year if I did, as it pretty much sits in storage for 8 months a year.

I just got a Good Sam policy through their provider National General.
The "homeowner's" part of the policy regarding coverage for our contents was not all I wanted. Even though getting $5,000 or $10,000 on your contents is pretty inexpensive with them, they have a maximum of $1,000 "per category" meaning that any computer loss would max out at $1,000. Same with any jewelry loss, or clothing loss, etc.
The agent said I needed a separate "Inland Marine Policy" which they did not carry and for which he could not offer a suggested company. With my State Farm Homeowners and Renters' policies through the years, I have been able to add a "rider" to cover the replacement of computers, jewelry, electronics, furniture, etc. for the amount I wanted insured, but not with them.
Does anybody else know of a good company for "Inland Marine Policy" that understands full-timers?

There are SO MANY variables about what is best for you,we have Progressive/AAA and it was a lot cheaper than anybody else BUT it all depends on what State you live in ,what part of the state ETC... ETC...Etc... it is hard to say what is best for YOU from US, Gotta just shop around
