When Heading South For Winter

This will be the first year that we head south from central Illinois around the end of December. Our final destination for the winter months is Siesta Bay RV Resort in Ft. Myers. Going to go down through Nashville TN and figured the December temps there would be good. Any Snowbirds out there ever use the Nashville KOA? We were looking for someplace far enough south that we could spend 3 or 4 days and not worry about 20 degree temps.

PM or email "PackerFan" they're living there right now and could get the info from the folks who own the park.

Betting on December temps in Nashville is a real crap shoot. It is not at all uncommon for night time temps to be in the 20's but neither is it uncommon for day time temps to hit 70. Either way, staying a few nights there in Dec. generally should not be a problem. Just disconnect water and all should be fine.

We live in Nashville and frequent the local KOA for Staycations - Working from the campground rather than home for a few weeks at a time. The average high is 50 and the average low is 31 in the month of December. having grown up in Florida I laugh sometimes at folks who think that they will not hit freezing temps below Jacksonville. There is no safe place North of Nassau. . Nashville's December weather is fairly moderate but yes it could possibly dip lower although that usually happens in February and not December. We did not Winterize with anti freeze last year. We blew out all of our lines with air and placed a small oil filled radiator heater in the storage area and left our inside heater on 35. No issues. I would roll the dice and come to Nashville. Great place to live, work, and camp. Good luck! And the KOA is Fantastic....... :-)

I've stayed in my camper when it was in the low 20s at night a lot without the heat on in it. As long as it gets warm during the day it is not going to hurt a thing. You have the heat in a 12000 pound camper to keep things from freezing.

Typically there are no issues with short periods of 20 degree temps in December in Middle Tennessee. We live about 95 miles east of Nashville and we do not leave until after Christmas and usually have some snow flurries, but not more than say 4 hours of freezing temps during the overnight periods. By using the furnace (not electric heaters) for heat you should have no problems in Nashville during December.
