Champion generators

Has anyone bought either a Champion 4375 or a 4000. Both crank out 3500 watts when running. Both Sams and Costco sell them for $300 and according to Champion they run at 68db which is slightly higher than a Honda 2000. Appreciate your thoughts as to whether they should be considered.

Very tempting at a good price. I’m sure they would do the job. To me, the most important factor in a generator is the sine wave. Never accept a modified or square sign wave, or the electronic components in our rigs won’t last long. The documentation should plainly state a pure sign wave. Champion says they do on some models. I also dig into the specs and look at their regulator settings for the voltage, highs and low limits. I look at the Honda inverter generators on our oscilloscope at work, and they are as perfect as you can buy, BUT, they are expensive. Good luck on this discussion.

Slightly higher noise than the Honda 2000, that's an understatement. Honda is just under 50 db and for each 3 db increase is a double in volume, so I think the Champion will be much much louder.

That’s a contractor type if it’s what I saw at Sam’s
Didn’t pay attention but I do have the Champion hybrid but it cost over double that.

I purchased the Champion Hybrid 4000 and it is the sine wave.Its only 80 lbs,10-12 hrs on tank and it’s a inverter generator.
We don’t boondock at all.Just need for traveling when we stop at night if we need heat or AC.A great backup if needed and price is right.

Concur that you must be looking at a construction type generator and not an inverter which will provide clean power for your sensitive electronics. We've used a Champion Dual Fuel 3400/3100 inverter generator (Model #100263) for the past year and have been quite pleased. Runs on both gasoline and LP. Surprisingly it's capable of running both AC units and various lights, etc. without overloading it. At 59 dBA it's relatively quiet. Spent the summer in the Adirondacks and the generator would run the fridge 9-10 hrs. overnight, without the AC, which served our needs. The only potential drawback is the weight. At 95 lbs. its a bit of a challenge lifting into the bed of the truck, doable, but... You can see all the details at the below link - good luck!

Have a champion 4000 watt, used it during Irma and ran perfect running the 15000 air but we only used it at night to charge the battery and the 13000 in the bedroom so we would be able to sleep in the heat. It is louder than a inverter type but it is not real loud, but during an emergency who cares. I have had that generator for 10 years and has not let me down. It would be too loud for camping in a park. but ok out in the woods.

The Champion Hybrid 4000 is a inverter generator.Its not enclosed like the usual inverter generator.Thats why they call it a Hybrid.It s also sine wave.Very compact,85 lbs,runs 15,000 AC,runs 10-12 hrs on one tank and over $400 cheaper then the enclosed models.
I did my homework and completed satisfied.

The only thing I have observed on line, and at Cabela's, the Champion has the
30AMP Female outlet upside down, or has anyone else notice it also?

I got the 3500 model with the inverter.

Used it at the Balloon Fiesta and it worked great. Was quiet as any of the others.

I have the 3500 watt Champion that cost me about $360.00 from Amazon. It works great although I'm sure it is a construction type generator. We run all our power through an EMS system that should iron out all the voltage wrinkles etc. Have only used it once, but it did the trick in an emergency.

We recently had a power outage. I was running my Homde IS 3000. My neighbor was running his construction type generator 160 yards away. They are straight in front of our home our nearest neighbor. I could stand 50 feet from my generator between the two generators and hear his generator over mine. That is the difference in the noise.

Thank you for all the input that members submitted. I guess I need to do a lot more research before I make a decision. I currently have a Honda 2000i that is close to 15 Years old and still runs fine, but I would like to be able to have a inverter generator that will run our air conditioner.

That's what I bought also, except mine is remote start, I love that feature My wife likes the remote also, first time she's ever been able to start one on her own. Your generator actually runs on 3 fuels, Gasoline, Propane and natural gas.

I purchased two 2000 watt I power Yamaha generators at $499 each. They are as quiet as a Honda and with two will run the AC or microwave separately. They come with the parallel connections needed to run both

Hi, I have the 4000 Champion. Yes, it would be considered a "industrial" type generator, tho at 68 dB it's not bad. I used it for a couple years boondocking. Use it during the day only, not at night, and it was great. Starts easy, runs a very long time on a tank. I later added a Onan to our Monty, older style, and it was every bit as quiet inside the trailer as the onan, even with the sound proofing. It is definitely NOT an inverter type quiet, but while I'm using the micro, I don't really care. And it's portable. The only things the onaN had over the Champion is higher load capability, and I don't have to get cold or wet to start it.

Rapatton, did you buy the Yamaha generators at Costco? The reason I’m asking is because I was told the Costco Yamha generators have a Yamaha motor, but the generators were built by some other company. If you bought them at Costco do you know the name of the company that built the generators? Appreciate knowing.

I bought the dual fuel. I love it. It is louder than the Hondas but I only use mine for emergencies so doesn't make sense to pay 3 times the amount to me for the Honda.
