Walmart Pharmacy Service
The DW's flu getting worse and worse. Got into Urgent Care in Cape Coral. Really good Doctor there checked her over good and called in 3 scripts around 1:00pm. Told her she was on the verge on getting full blown pneumonia.
At 3:30pm, after waiting in line at Walmart for 40 minutes, the lady informs me that they aren't ready yet. I ask when will they be ready because my wife is really sick. She tells me that they will be ready sometime tomorrow!
Went back to Montana and called the closest CVS. Gave them the listed meds and they said they had all three and would gladly fill them today. They just had to call Walmart and have the scripts faxed over. As an extra bonus CVS will send me a text message as soon as the scripts are ready!
Why do I keep going to Walmart?

We have no choice, Walmart is the pharmacy of choice for our Medicare supplement. For normal stuff it's no problem, I put it in online the day before, apparently for emergencies it's no good. I'd have razed hell with the pharmacy manager and then the store manager. Probably wouldn't have helped, but I would have felt better.

I wasn't a "happy camper" to say the least. I understand they are busy with thousands of additional folks down here this time of year, but its not like this doesn't happen every year so I think they should be more prepared for it, like pay a few workers some overtime......oh wait a minute, Walmart probably doesn't even know what OT is!
It just worries me that if she doesn't start on these meds that this thing will land her in the hospital. It is sure getting worse.

Why go to Walmart? They will let you stay overnight. Only reason I can think of.

So I thought it was all worked out after setting everything up with CVS. After about 2 more hours I called CVS thinking they didn't have my correct number down and couldn't notify me that the scripts were ready. The nice lady at CVS apologized and said they had been trying to get Walmart to fax the scripts to them for over 2 hours but each time they called they would either not answer, or answer and then put them on hold and never pick up again.
Needless to say I was now more than a little angry. I drove to Walmart, waited in line at the "drop off" window because there was only one customer waiting there instead of the "pick up" line which had 15 - 20 folks waiting. I was telling my story to the pharmacy worker finally and she was acting like she wasn't even listening. She was moving some papers around and kind of straightening up and finally she asked for my wife's name. She looked in the computer and said "it is ready" and then she walked away. At first I thought she was going to get it, but nope, she didn't go to that area of the pharmacy at all.
I get in line and after a little bit of a wait I only have two in front of me. Then the gal behind the counter announces that the pharmacy will close in 10 minutes. Of course there are probably still 10 folks behind me. I was the last privileged Walmart shopper to obtain their prescriptions for the day! And it only took a little over 7 hours for the three generics!
Oh well, it is already 64 degrees outside. It is a new year....all is well in the world.

I guess that can be chocked up to another adventure in futility. Hope Cindy is feeling better and the medicine kicks in soon.

Try waiting 5 days only to find out when it came in they sold it to someone else. This is getting to be the norm for WalMart. Hope your better half is doing better now.

We used to use Walmart. The Walmart in Weslaco, Tx is like the one you described.
We have transferred all our prescriptions to Walgreen's. What a difference. We have no prescription plan so pay ourselves.
Generics are going up, so we may be getting our's in MX this winter.
Hope your wife is better. I truly feel your pain with Walmart.

It happens. Wall mart is very popular for filling scripts. We have been using WM for 8 years on the road with not a problem under normal conditions. We did note on a visit to WM last week with the flu season in full swing that they were backed up. We also have a account at CVS as they are less used. If WM gives us a problem we then try CVS. Many CVS have med a clinics that are very handy. There was however a 4 hour wait at our local CVS last week.

Next time go to Costco as you do not have to be a member to get drugs. They are 1/2 or less than WM and much friendlier. They are just up the rd from you in Ft Myers as we go all the time ...sailer

We've been using WM for a number of years, always fast and accurate.
