traveling from San Antonio to Vegas

Considering traveling from San Antonio, Texas to Vegas at the end of the month to attend the SCI Convention. Tentative itinerary is San Antonio to Fort Stockton day 1, Fort Stockton to Las Cruces day 2, Las Cruces to Phoenix day 3 (two nights or more there), then on to Vegas. I only know of one decent CG in Fort Stockton, and a very nice one in Las Cruces. Any advice on good CG around Phoenix and in Vegas would be appreciated, as well as any advice on our tentative itinerary. This is supposed to be a vacation and not a "forced march". TIA.

There are many good campgrounds in the Mesa area of Phoenix. And if you want a less stressful drive (Tucson can be a bit) take a highway from Lordsburg thru Safford and Globe into Mesa. Saves about 40 miles. A few short hills in a couple of places near Globe but not bad. I only drive 62-65 which is under the US and state highway limit anyway, so Interstates don't speed things up.
