Winter Concerns

My house is up for sale. Will be going full time as soon as that happens. But by the time it sells and settlement may be 3 months from now. I have Thousand Trails, Passport America, and Senior Park Pass. My concern is by the time I am ready all the nice places will be booked. I know I should just relax and travel, but being a newbie I am worried. Any advice would be great. Thanks for any ideas. Ray

Make reservations now and cancel if it doesn't work out. The penalties to cancel are generally fairly low as long as it is not last minute.

I'm just mentioning this as I've seen the results. Have you done much RVing prior to deciding to go full time? Many times people find out the full time life takes a special kind of relationship (if you're married) to make it work. Sometimes the excitement of not being tied down to anything doesn't pan out like you envisioned. If you've not been out much in an RV … try it out before the house sells just to be sure. Some people wouldn't trade the lifestyle for anything … others become quickly disappointed.

Depends on where and what kind of site you looking for. We snowbird in Florida and seasonal sites in nice parks in Florida pretty well booked up by late summer. But 1000s of parks in warm places like Florida, Texas, Arizona. If your planning to use one of the 3memberships you cited, as mentioned already, reservations are a good idea as you are limiting your options. Full timing is an adventure, and when we were full timers we were always able to find a site. You will too. Big country.

Adding to the comment about being sure it is for you: there are tons of stories of folks leaving for a lifetime on a sailboat and the wife stepping off the boat at the first dock they come to and walking off to never return. Being with your mate 24 hours a day does not work for everyone.

And to enjoy fulltiming you have to be flexible and roll with the punches. Part of the fun.
