Unhappy Outlets quit working

Left Indiana in late December for a trip south. After five weeks, six campgrounds, five states, and over 1500 miles, we finally got to our present rv park in Mobile. No problems until now.

When we setup here, we discovered that the outlets along the slides in the living area, back wall, tv outlet, and the overhead fan/light unit no longer work. After talking to our dealer back home and several locally, the only solution is to have it looked at for a short or loose wire. (I do not have the skills necessary.) Luckily my dealer in Indiana found what feels like a good dealer here to do the work. (NOT UNDER WARRANTY!!)

Seems like it is always something on every trip!!!! Our rv is a 2017 3811.

Sounds like a breaker has tripped. The 110 system uses breakers and the 12 volt system uses fuses just so you know the difference.

What a bummer. Probably all on the same run and one wire is loose. Should be easy for the local dealer to find. Good luck.

Did you check your circuit breakers? No real skill set required for that. Just remove the cover to your breaker panel. The breakers may be labeled as to function, but likely not. If a breaker handle is flipped to the OFF position, then flip it to ON. But typically a tripped breaker does not flip the handle to the OFF position. It will just move the handle slightly from the ON position. If you push on all the handles toward the ON position and one of them feels “softer” than the others or moves slightly, that breaker is probably tripped. Turn it off and back on and see if problem is solved. Might save you a service call.

First check the breakers in the pedestal you may have a problem there. It sounds like you lost one lag on the 50amp service. You need a volt meter and checking voltage start at pedestal and work your way to 5er on to the panel don't forget the power cord to!

Another thing is a breaker that has tripped many times will become weak and trip easier. You may want to change the breaker but dont increase the amps.

If all was well up until this stop, I'd first suspect the pedestal. Others said it - use a voltmeter to be sure both phases, a ground and a neutral are present at the pedestal. If good there, check all the circuit breakers. If they are all on and not tripped, then check the end of the power cord that connects to your coach. Vibration on the road can cause screws to come loose. With power disconnected from the pedestal, check the tightness of all screws that hold wires to the circuit breakers. Oh, and make sure that if the screw is loose, that the wire is still under the screw before you tighten it. GFCI is also a possibility.

Most likely it is a loose wire at a outlet. The outlets are a poor design and the wires push in a V and come loose. My brother inlaws was the outlet by the door

Partial Power Outage

I have experienced this problem personally and helped a neighboring Montana RVer find the same solution for his. It turned out in both cases the problem is where the female 50A plug goes onto the male receptacle on your trailer.
The fix was simple, DO THIS: Go to the pedestal and turn off the breaker. Disconnect the 50A cord from your trailer, then reconnect the 50A cord and then make sure it is turned as far as it will go to lock it in. Turn on the pedestal breaker. You should be good to go unless one of the wires is undone in your plug/cord.
In my situation I just failed to turn and lock the 50A plug into the socket; doing that assures that you have a solid connection. This will likely solve your problem since what you describe is the same as my experiences - outlets are out on one side of the trailer.
Good luck.

Outlets quit working

Check the Shore power plug where you plug your power cord in. Ours had loose wires inside from the factory. Outlets would quit, celling fan and refrigerator and electric hot water would all quit for no reason. Wiggle the power cord while someone is inside the coach watching to see if things quit. Mine was as easy as removing the plug ( 4 screws) and tightening up the power wires inside the back wall of the coach. Just make sure power is OFF and batteries are off as well. It only takes 10 minutes to do the entire check. Good luck.

The OP hasn't said whether they have 30 Amp or 50 Amp.
If it's 30 Amp, I would unplug it and using a adapter, I would then plug it into the 50 Amp outlet. The prongs in the 30 Amp may be worn out from lots of use.

We ran into that problem on an overnight park stay in NM this summer. We'd arrived after hours & parked in an open spot. Plugged into shore power & lost half the outlets in the rear living space of our 3921FB. I checked all the breakers & fuses, nothing had tripped. Talked to Keystone, they could only give me faraway service centers that wouldn't do warranty work on our 5er. Next morning, some guy (not with the park) comes by with his dog & yells at us for parking where we did. We decided to leave, but once set up, I had hubby pull into one of the other spots to check our trailer against a different power post on a hunch (intuition?). We learned it wasn't our trailer with the problem, but that first power post. We continued on to Texas & haven't had any problems since.

Sometimes, it's not you, but them.

So I take it you do not have a surge protector. Or at least one that doesn't let you know if you are missing voltage on a leg or not. With ours, I can see the voltage and amperage I am pulling on each leg. If you do not have one I would highly recommend one.

On my list of things to get before we hit the road again come summer. Thanks for the recommend.

Ditto on surge protector. I used to have Surge Guard and it was ok. But with new trailer, I went with Progressive (I think it is) because it has a lifetime warranty. I also have a readout I ran to the hallway and it shows the amp usage and voltage as well as has a bypass switch when using a generator.
These have saved me at least twice and I needed it once before when it blew out my tv because of low voltage in Neb. when it was 108 in the evening.

Seems most on here prefer Progressive Industries but since South Wire bought out Surge Guard it now carries a warrenty.
