I would like to know how many more Goodyear tires are out there than Sailuns. What matters for comparison is the number of failures per 1000 tires in use.

I totally disagree. The more over capacity the better by way of a good quality tire and a good axle alignment. You cannot go wrong.

I run the 614s on my rig 12,000 mi no problem.also I would venture to say there are a lot more 614s on the road than sailuns, therefore more incidents of failure.probably due to improper inflation, I'll go get my beer now

I agree 100% By the way I read the spec sheet for sailums and they appear to have no Kevlar in the side wall for extra protection and strength. I'll pay a little more that anytime.

Both G614 and Saiun S637 tires are excellent. I like the advertised higher load capacity the S637 Sailun tire offers. Less cost means I can afford to replace without spending a ton of cash.

I've been running G614's for many years and have no desire to change, almost all failures are from incorrect tire pressure or overloaded trailers

If you know the weight of the 2955 and still disagree I'd love to sell you tires. Old sales adage as it applies to a competent sales person, "Tell them what they need, sell them what they want."

Weight with a E rated tire is one issue the other is speed. All E rated tires are 65 MPH tires. NEVER go from a G rated tire to an E rated tire. Especially when you can by Sailun's at lest than $160.00 each.

All ST tires with the exception of Maxxis now have speed ratings higher than 65 MPH. Look on the tire sidewall for confirmation. Tire brochures often have invalid information.

The minimum tire size for any RV trailer is a tire of the same size designation as the OE tire or replacement tires that have a load capacity equal to or greater than what the OE tires provided.

Question, why would you put a ST tire on when you can use a G related tire for the same or lower price? That said if you have a rig weighting say 9500 or so pounds then maybe.

Even then I want the very best tires on my equipment because that is the only thing between me and the road.

I never go by minimums.

Just saying is all.

Sailun s637 and GY g614 are LR G. With 16" wheels- the only way to go.

There may be a nomenclature problem between us.

Tires are properly described by their designated size.

LT235/85R16 is a complete designated size. The Goodyear G614 RST is a specialty tire designed for trailer service and only comes in LRG rated at 3750# @ 110 PSI. (Load Range is an indicator for a tires load capacity. The most common ones found on trailer tires are "C" - "D" - "E" - "F" - "G" and sometimes "J" or "K".

ST235/85R16 is also a complete designated size. However, because it's a special trailer tire it's going to have the ability to carry higher loads than standard Light Truck (LT) tires. For instance, the ST235/85R16 LRG tire has a maximum load capacity of 4400# @ 110 PSI.

So when speaking in load capacity terms, we need to include the designated size of the tire we are talking about and it's load capacity letter.

Because those are replacement tires and probably not approved by the trailer manufacturer they are probably not going to answer your wheel questions.

Any Goodyear tire dealer will be able to answer them. Here is a ref for the G614 tires. Note at the bottom of the document the warning about whees for them. (In the ref, just click on the G614 picture and it will take you to that page). If you then click on the Endurance tire picture you will learn that GY is also building them in this designated size, ST235/85R16 with a LRE, rated at 3640# @ 80 PSI.

Just looked at a new Jaco North Point same as our 381 & it has GY Endurance tires & they make a point of letting you know,FWIW. It seems like most Jaycos come with GD Endurance now.ELKHART — Jayco signed an exclusive deal to put American-made Goodyear endurance tires on all of its vehicles, RV Pro reported today.

Mike Aplin, general manager for Jayco fifth wheel sales and product development, said the company had hoped to have a special flyover of the Goodyear blimp to promote its new partnership, but wasn’t able to pull it off in time for Elkhart RV Dealers Open House.

Sailun does not need a Blimp to promote their tires......word of mouth is doing just fine for them.

Sorry that was just too easy not to pass up
