Winegard Traveler

I have done a quick search but did not find what I was looking for.
I am installing a Winegard Traveler on my 2014 Montana. The instructions say the gap between the antenna base and the roof can be no more than 3/16 inch.
With the curve of the roof I am about 5/15.
Did those who have installed these, did you shim one side to make it stable and have no gap.
Thanks

Don

Where is the gap? Front or back?

Dish needs to be pretty level to find satellites. Is the gap between the mount and dish, if so I would probably use some flat washers to make it stable.

I used the Trav’ler for for a decade on my Airstream, curved roof and all, and it always worked no matter where we parked, level or not, boondocking or not. I now have it sitting on blocks on the ground beside the Montajmahal where it still works flawlessly. I wouldn’t worry too much about a fraction of an inch, just make sure it is fastened and sealed well.

I think i will use some solid rubber sheets I have for shim on the one side and washers at the screw. It should be fine.

Thanks for the responses.

I used the alum. mounting plate and shimmed that. The Travler mounts flat.

we pick up our new montana the week of the 27th this month. I have a brand new winegard traveler I was going to install on the motorhome we traded that I plan on putting on the montana. if I may ask where are you planning on locating the control box for the traveler and also how to get the control wire to box. it somehow needs to be near the coax that goes to the tv. it may be clearer to me once I get it but wanted to get your thoughts on it.
thanks al

The antenna does not have to be mounted level. It will find the satellite.
Our 2015 3610 model has antenna mounted about 3 feet from edge over bedroom tv. Exposed roof wiring is about a foot long then down into bedroom tv cabinet where all the direct tv equipment is.
This job was professionally done by a guy that’s done 2 for us and 5 more for friends.
