Gas and fuel prices going down before Memorial Day

In California one thing you can count on as sure as the sun raising in the east is that gas and fuel prices are going to go up just before Memorial Day.

I believed this to be an universal law so Wednesday morning here in Pennsylvanian I filled up the truck at $3.19 for diesel. That evening when I drove by the same station all gas and fuel had dropped 20 cents per gallon!! WOW, $2.99 for diesel!

Yesterday, I noticed that gas and fuel at all of the stations had dropped in price.

If I wakeup early enough I will check to see if the sun raise in the west back here.

Here at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, the fuel is from last Nov. Its still selling for that price of 3.04 a gallon. Outside in Utah its around 3.15. So I wait until we are back up here from our shopping and exploring and fill up.

I filled up yesterday in Mount Shasta Ca (Siskiyou Rally) because it got down to $3.09. But the price of crude oil was up 4% yesterday on the open market so you had better fill up now because the price is ready to go back up.

There’s a first time for everything and maybe this was a first. That certainly isn’t something you usually see before a holiday.

The oil crooks are just trying to stay in good graces with the public while all the negative press from the spill in the gulf is going on. They are really taking a beating everyday on that spill, and people don't care if it's BP. Lots of folks down on the oil companies in general right now.

Gas has gone down 30 cents or more in the last 3 weeks and is now at 2.559/2.459 but diesel has been stuck at 2.999 and has not budged. The economic collapse in Europe as well as the decline of the Euro is affecting the price of oil. Look for a further decrease in the coming weeks.. watch the commodities markets.. BBL of oil was pushing 87.00 a bbl a month ago and fell to 68.00 last week. It has risen a bit to 73.00 but watch for a fall.

Here in Texico, NM, diesel went from $3.15 to $2.59. Perfect timing for me, I'm on empty.

Like most, I like to see lower prices, but at this point in my life, if I want to go...I'm going...don't care what the prices are.

Another huge factor is the strength gains the dollar has made against the Euro and other currencies lately.
