Gulf Coast

The DW and I have at least three trips to the Florida pan handle in the next 4 months. Panama City beach, Pensacola and Santa Rosa Beach. Anyone in those areas know if there is any oil coming ashore yet.

There is a Florida website that is supposed to be providing that kind of info. for campgrounds. You can find the web site on 'reserve america' when you go to one of Florida's costal campgrounds for reservations.

I'd say go! Plans made, Montana ready, you're ready, make the trip. The areas you mentioned are great stops. Make sure you take some time to see the Naval Air Museum at Pensacola. Room for you to park the Montana. Across the street is an RV campground.

All Florida beaches are 100% clear. They had a big feature on CNBC about it today. Florida is even launching a big ad campaign "Florida: We are open!"
They were saying they are getting killed because people think there are problems, but in fact there are none. Louisana is the only state impacted so far.

Same thing is going on down here. DW tried to tell some folks the other day that we didn't have any oil here. No way, they canceled their reservations at the Inn. She said it happens every day now.

It's not going to stop us. We'll be at TopSail on June 19 for 2 weeks. We just left the Florida Keys and people there are very concerned about the oil spill.

No oil here in Panama City yet. None in Florida.

Most beach rentals are giving a "Pristine beach guarantee". If oil arrives before or during your stay you get a refund. Check with whatever park you are planning on staying in.

Also Mexico Beach is just south of PCB. Quieter and less crowded.

Here's a link to a live beach cam overlooking the beach in Panama City. As I look at it right now it is dark (it's 8:30 PM), but in the daylight you can see miles of pristine white beach.

I have no affiliation with the tourist industry here. Just hate to hear all the hurt going on with the tourist industry because people are canceling their trips for no good reason.
