We went the LONG way around, West Yellowstone to Billings, down to Little Bighorn and then on to Custer. Maps can be seen on the blog, near the top, it has link to maps from the entire trip, day by day, towing days only.

We did not go through the park and out to the east due to some of the roads being washed out at that time. If the conditions had been different we may or may not have taken that route. That said, it worked out all right and we got to see Little Bighorn, a biggie for us, as ole Custer is pretty infamous over in the next county here in SE Michigan and his horse is buried about 10 miles from our stick built. I just took a photo of the HUGE boulder marking the spot where the horse is buried the other day.

If you need more info, give a yell.

We went the opposite direction but we left Buffallo WY, went over the south end of Bighorn Mtns to Thermopolis WY, to Cody WY, then on to East Gate of Yellowstone thru the middle of the park to West Yellowstone. What a site of awe it is on this route. I would suggest that it has been said that the northern route thru the Bighorns on Hwy 14 is a lot more difficult than the southern route. I have no idea for sure on the northern route as I have never beeen on that part. Be prepared to see a lot of mtns any way you go and plan as much time as possible for the trip.

Good luck on your travels.

Dave

Larry-- When are you going to Yelllowstone and Rushmore? IF you're in the area of Nebraska July 18th-23rd join us for the MOC Central Plains Regional Rally(CPPR). It's just off I-80 between Omaha and Lincoln at Pine Grove RV Park and Campground. We can't promise you all of the excitement of the Fall Rally but we have a lot to see in the area and have a good time the whole five days! We have the top rated Zoo in the nation, the Aero Space museum, casinos across the Missouri River in Council BLuffs, The International Quilt Museum, Licorice International, an oldtime trashers gathering that same weekend, and much much more. We always give our guests a Warm Welcome and we have some of the best MOC cooks around attend this Rally. Come and join us for some "Down Home Nebraska Hospitality" and meet more of the MOC members from across the nation! Check us out on the Regional Camping Clubs section of the Forum and some of the comments by previous CPRR attendees over the past two years! THIS HAS BEEN A TESTIMONIAL AND PROMOTIONAL ADVERTISEMENT FOR THE CPPR and we hope you all can come!

Thanks Rondo, but it s my son who is traveling. Coming from Monterey to Ft Bragg. I'm using this info to help him. He is towing a 32' Passport with a Yukon XL and seeing the sights along the way. Larry PS Pat has been sick since Jan and we have been unable to travel. Maybe we will start again soon as
She is getting better now.
