Oregon road lead to the Coast?

Hi All
We will leave, Lynnwood Wa. on Sunday the 29th and head to Gold Beach Or. I have traveled there many times but in a small car or motorclycle. I would like to go down hay 42 towards the end is a cut off 425 comes out at Bandon, or. My question is how is that road for Fifth Wheel travel? Wife's mother pulls an Everest and said do not go that way the turn are tight. What say you. Thanks

Taking Hwy 42 from Hwy 5 Coos Bay- Roseburg Road to hwy 42S to Bandon, should be fine. I will be taking that road in June. The people I have talked to about it, say no problem. The Coos Bay-Wagon Road could be a problem.

I would take HWY 38 which drops you into Reedsport and then head south from there.

Wagon road is not 425. 425 is acutally 42South form Coquille. But since you are coming from the north. Hwy 38 as Parts Ed said would be good to take over to the coast. I am taking 42 as I will be coming in from the south.

The hwy 42 is an excellent road to get from the I-5 to the coast. As far as the 42 SPUR Rd it too looks like a good road. I'd gladly tow my Monty down to Bandon on the SPUR Hwy 42. You should have no trouble. So enjoy and just travel safely. Dennis

As Dennis says Hwy 42 is an excellent road. If you check on Google Maps it says that the distant from Coquille to Bandon is the same regardless if you use 42 or 42s. There must be more turns on 42s to add extra distance.

That said I agree with Parts ED. I think that Hwy 38 is the most scenic and nicest road to the coast from I-5.

What Parts Ed said. The road going into Reedsport has a few curves but it was an easy haul pulling my 2955, I have done it a couple of times.

38 is very scenic, and there is a viewpoint you can watch the Elk and take a nice break. We have taken that road many, many times. Since you heading south on I-5, that is the way I would go.
