New Refrigerator
Hi Everyone, We left early this morning for our trip to camping world and arrived with out any trouble. The first thing they tried to tell me was that they could not use the oak inserts that was on the old one, they said they were glued on. I told them that they were not because I could move them around. So they did remove the ones we had and put them on the new frig. I now have a very cold frig and am now a happy camper.LOL I just need to go shopping and get some grub to put in it.LOL

My fridge has never got really cold. My unit is only 2 years and 3 months old. I thought I was just being picky but maybe its time for me to get a new one. Did your fridge just quit or was it having a hard time keeping everything cool?

We also had our fridge replaced last year. Durtherm replaced it. They just used the door from old fridge on new one. We would have just changed the wood things to new one but Durtherm sent the wrong side opening fridge and it was easier and faster to just use our old door.
Our fridge gradually quit. Just got warmer and warmer. Finally just quit.

Okie Guy, Mine just quit working and we found the coolant leaking out under the propane burner. when I check the Dometic web site our model number was on the recall list.

Linda, I'm so glad that you have your new refrigerator. It must have been very difficult to live without a working 'frig.
Okie guy, have you tried the fin in the upper right corner that adjusts the temp?

Sounds great Linda and Walt! Now no worries about the fire part either. Just got our recall, but the Monty is long gone on trade in.

Linda,
Did Dometic pick up the cost for your refrigerator? The reason I am asking is because I have a refigerator that will be a part of the recall. However, the recall will only make sure that any fire that might occur is contained and does not address the reason the refrigerator is failing, i.e. a higher wattage electric coil was used in the affected refirgerators which causes a failure in the cooling unit. I'm curious as to whether Dometic stepped up to the plate and replaced the refirgerator.

My Refer failed. Coolant leak. That's when I found out about the recall. Does anyone know if Dometic will pay for repairs to replace the cooling unit?

Yes Dometic payed for our new frig. they send you a form to fill out and it took about 3 months to recieve the check. We was told that it would cost almost as much to fix the cooling unit as it would for a new frig. Ours did leak all the coolant out so we had no choice but to replace it,I do not know how they handle the kit that they fix the ones that has not leaked.

My frig quit long before the recall but eventually Dometic stepped up and I got a check last week for the full amount.

Which way do you move the sensor on the fin to make the fridge colder? Even on the coldest setting, ours doesn't get as cold as I think it should. Right now the sensor is in the center of the fin.

Someone else explained it in a way that I cannot forget now. Up as in North for colder. Down as in South for warmer.
