New Posts vs. Todays posts

The link to Todays Posts can be found in the drop down menu under Quick links on the upper nav bar and is go to place for a fast update on all forum posting activity. This link will show all threads that have been updated since your last login.

The link to New Posts is located in the center of the nav bar and functions differently. It will only display posts you have not looked at and this includes any posts you have made. It doesn't really give a complete list of new posts - just ones you have not read.

How to embed a link in text
  • Type text into the reply editor
  • Next highlight the text you want to become a link and select the link tool on the editor box (looks like 2 chain links).
  • A link editor will pop up and you can add the url of the target page. Click OK
  • Don't forget to click "save" once your post is ready.

Set up your signature

If you had a signature on the old site you will notice it's missing. We apologize for this but the signatures didn't import to the new platform gracefully and so you will need to set up a new one.

Members can customize their signatures but please remember to avoid commercial links. Html isn't permitted in sigs for security reasons.

Some formatting hints:
  • Use small (size 1) font sizes and making it bold.
  • Try putting several pieces of info on one line with | (look above the enter key on your keyboard) separators.
  • Remember that your sig shows on every post and so members see it over and over and over. You want it to be informational or fun but not overpower the text of you post.

Note that there is a setting in your profile options to disable signatures entirely. There is also an option to selectively display a signature on a post as you make it which you can see when using the advanced reply editor.

How to add an image to your signature.

Go to your userCP and find 'Edit Signature" (left side menu)

1. Add text to your signature

2. under Option 2 - Upload Image From Your Computer. Locate the image on your hard drive by selecting 'browse' that you want to use in your signature. Note the size restrictions as no image will load if this is not met.

3. Click upload. Once you have uploaded the image you should see it display below the signature editor.

4. Place your cursor in the location where you want your image to display in your signature (in the editor box). Click on the link to 'insert signature picture' to add it to your signature. You will see the image code appear in the editor at that location. It looks like this: [SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

You can click the preview signature button to check that you have your set up just right and then edit again if needed. The preview will appear above the editor.

Some tips:
  • Sig images are wide and not tall - if you need help making an image like this we can help. but will need you to post the base images.
  • Your signature will not display in posts unless you have selected that option when you make the post. There is also a setting in your user CP (options) to display your signature on posts.
  • a number of members like to display an image of the states they've camped in - you can make one of these here: Visited States Map by epgSoft

How to embed attachments between text of a post (rather than at the bottom)

You can add photos between pics. The process is similar to attaching an image at the end of a post but there is one more step:

1. Write the post and attach the images in the usual way (use the go advanced button below the text box to find these options) and hit upload

2. Click in the place in the text where you want to include an image and then click on the paperclip icon.

3. Select the image you want inserted and click.

4. Repeat for subsequent images. They should appear in your post rather than at the end.

Your post should look like this:

This is a donut:

Name: donut_1.jpg
Views: 462
Size: 31.8 KB

This is a better donut:

Name: donut_2.jpg
Views: 450
Size: 32.3 KB

This is an awesome donut:
