Check List For New Monte

We are taking delivery this Tuesday of our new 3725RL from Lazy Days. So far this is my checklist:

1. Inspect roof for any transport damage (buddy recently took delivery of a SOB, different dealer, discovered damaged front air a month later, and was denied warranty)
2. Inspect every inch of exterior for dents, scratches, etc.
3. Check correct rim rating for install of G-614 tires (which they should have done already since they installed the tires)
4. Torque lug nuts and inspect axles.
5. Check all interior systems.
6. Switch my tire monitors and check air pressures.

We will be staying at their facility for at least 2 nights so we will have the opportunity to use everything, including dumping and flushing tanks.

Any other suggestions on things to check prior to leaving Lazy Days.

Have them torque the u-bolts on the axles as well (I have yet to see any that are correct from the factory). The PDI's are a good starting point, but there have been features added that need checked as well, namely if you have a level-up system, that there are no leaks, and it is operating properly.

You really need to give yourself time to inspect after they are done. You never know what you'll find. In our case the front landing gear leg was cracked.

JandC when are you guys starting fulltiming. It looks from your bio you were going to start sometime in 2013. Rhonda and I wish you guys the best. As we are getting closer to fulltiming (Oct.) the excitement grows as well as anxiety over leaving a steady paycheck. It been a lot of planning. We have emptied out about 80% of our home and have it ready to rent. We haven't bought a tow truck or a 5er yet. I don't need them till about August. I would like to make a couple of short trips before going fulltiming so we can get some warrenty work done on it if needed before it becomes our only home.

Check all the screens to make sure they are in place and have all of their clips. Also check the rear of the chairs to make sure the end table did not scratch/rub the back of the chair.

Joe, I'm really glad you posted this. I've been reading through all the posts for the past month or so and thought I could remember. I realized at some point my memory isn't what it used to be, and just tonight started compiling notes on things to buy and things to check. Based on recent posts only, and my poor memory, here are a few more (not sure if all apply)...
• Black tank back flow preventer…check for leaks when using black flush.
• No gaps in slide to trailer when stowed
• Check bedroom cable slide tension

If you really don't get something, speak up! I for example, did not fully understand my washing machine could only be operated, with gray water tank valve open. Bad things happen to me, because I did not know that fact? Understanding how and what works off batteries, my wife still gets confused about 110 outlets and lighting power sources, it is important for both of you to be experts. Just because one RV works one way, the next may be different. Take your time, slow them down if necessary! Good luck and have fun!

I find it ironic that to build the perfect RV, it has many systems, manuals, and procedures that must be followed perfectly or it will not work right or you will damage it. Then, the majority of the people that are purchasing these technological wonders are seniors who are losing their memory, edge, and are not as attentive as they use to be. Present company and the MOC members excluded.

Make sure both propane tanks are full. Flick the tank selector switch to see if it stays green. I didn't. Hmm. The PDIs may seem overwhelming, but are very helpful check lists. Good luck.

Have them fill all the holding tanks and check the underbelly for a bulge indicating a leak.Check for leaks everywhere. Wiggle your valve stems a listen for a air leak.

Arrived at 1pm at Lazy Days. By the time we were checked in, dropped our 3400RL in the changed-over site, did the paperwork, and received the initial walk through demo, it was 5:30pm and we were starving! Spent the next 3 hours moving a few things over just to get by for the first night. So far we have found a deep scratch in the arm of a leather rocker (almost a cut), and no hard wired surge protection (which we paid for in advance to be added). Other issues we noticed was interior not cleaned, plastic still on mattress, and missing hose for shower head. We will start in the morning moving the rest of our stuff over and then really get into a good inspection. I will say that they detailed the exterior and it looked perfect, our dish appeared to be installed correctly, and the washer/dryer looks good. But we will be putting all these systems through their paces the next two days to see if everything is correct. We will keep checking your postings so we don't forget something. Thanks everyone for providing the information and tips.

That's just terrible it was not ready. Shame on dealer for that one. Yes take your time and really go over everything. My 3750 was spotless, air running, tanks filled. It made me feel like a real PDI was done. I hope you love your RV and it serves you well!

Its a shame the the delivery process at a dealership can change what could have been a wonderful buying expierence. I am in sales and many times have had people on the delevery and installation end of the deal ruin it for me. We are only as good as the people we are relying on to do their job. I fully expect the same problems when I take delivery on a new RV this summer. It just SUCKS!!! I guess I am not getting my hopes up too high.

Just us, but CountryGuy and I will not hand over the check or move anytthing UNTIL the PDI is done and the repairs too. Guess we don't trust.

They sent a tech down this morning and things were looking up. He was going to make a couple minor adjustments plus hook up our two Direct TV receivers. Opps...they installed the Travler Dish on top for DISH....not DIRECT TV. The salesman knew I had Direct and our "Delivery Specialist" even called me Monday to make sure I had my own receivers! Unbelievable...now they are dragging it into the shop tomorrow and spending 3 or 4 hours switching out the satellite on top. We made arrangements to do a load of laundry while in the shop so that system can be checked out. The surge guard was installed behind a wall in the basement, which the tech showed me. I am fine with it being there and if it bugs me I will get the remote later. Front bedroom glass closet door came apart on the edge so that will be getting the attention of a carpenter tech tomorrow also. Entry door was hard to close but I adjusted the latch myself. One kitchen cabinet door doesn't lock closed as good as the other ones so we asked them to try to adjust that also, even though I will probably put magnets on all of them later. Going down the rest of the checklist and so far everything else is looking good. All in all I still think Lazy Days has been a good place to do business with even though there have been some "bumps" in the road. There have been a couple of things we have been disappointed in but there have been several other things they have impressed us with. We will see.

Congrats on picking up your new rig. Here are a couple more tips for you to check out:

1) Remember to verify where the washer drains into.

2) Check the door side slide when it is IN to make sure it doesn't rub the kitchen island. Ours does a little and it made a mark on the trim of the slide.
