Carpet vs linoeum
I have been wondering if any MOC members have replaced the carpeting in their unit with linoleum or tile or laminate? My DW would like me to do this.

We just replaced our lower part with Pergo so the jury is still out on whether is is going to stay in.. The thing you need to watch is the slides marking up the Pergo when going in and out. It seems the drop down slide will give us the most trouble.. We had to replace a couple of pieces after out first test slide.. Now we are going to replace the upper part with carpet as we do not want the extra weight..

We did our lower part with commercial grade linoleum tiles. We love it and have had no problems.

Our 3610 model has really no carpet except for in the bedroom area and we love it. We would highly recommend the change.

We had a better grade of carpet placed in the bedroom a few months ago. We looked at various ideas, including tile. The carpet guy was able to put the "new carpet" on the face of the slide. I knew, from seeing other floor replacements, the slide carpet always remained. Would luv to see variations on the carpet part ("alternatives")that follows the slide?

Artemus,
I also have a 2012 3750FL. What do you mean you put new carpet "on the face of the slide"? I like having carpeting in the bed room and in the front living area and the linoleum in the kitchen. IMHO the carpeting gives the camper a more cozy feel especially in the cooler weather. Then again I do not have any pets or kids.

How much did your carpet replacement cost and who did it? We are planning replacement but might wait till we get closer to home in June to do did...

First the slides as we have all seen, have a matching carpet piece that slides over the floor as "the slide" moves in and out. Our carpet guy had his "upholstery guy" bind and sew the new carpet over the original carpet attached to slide. So it matches. The new carpet looks almost identical to original carpet (took awhile to find) just better quality and better backing. The carpet was $175.00. Had regular carpet installer to the actual install. Took bed out, went wall to wall, so its looks like factory. Entire project including labor was $350.00. Our goal was to keep everything looking original. Our puppy caused the replacement, he chew too holes in original carpet! Hope that this helped.

Oops for the puppy, but one must remember that they give far more back than that!

I think that this summer we will have the carpet in the center of the living area replaced with a high quality linoleum. We will look into having a better quality carpet instaled in the right and left slide outs. We have a large dog that should be bald by the amount of hair she sheds.

Oh Ok, now I know what you meant when you said "face of the slide". In my bed room that part of the carpet in front of the drawers was only held down with a few staples. It kept getting bunched up against the drawers every time I closed the slides. Nothing 15 to 20 more staples couldn't fix...

Mine started doing the same thing, so I bought 2 carpet sliders and put them under the rollers for the bed. Now the carpet stays in place and doesn't move anymore.

I was thinking about doing the same thing. Do the carpet slider ever come off the rollers under the bed?

No because I used the foam that comes with the slider, and cut a hole into the foam so the roller sticks to the double stick tape.
