LP Gas Tank Levels

What has anyone done to be sure about the
level of gas in either of the tanks? Our
dealer shop folks indicated that you should
set your three way valve forward and it would
begin using from the driver side tank and
automatically switch to the other when needed
but did not have any feedback around knowing
the level in either.
