High Park Fire Update

The end of this fire is in sight. Our entire subdivision except for our Filing has gone home now. Tomorrow at noon our neighbors will get to see the destruction first hand. We are being allowed back in at that point. Things sound promising for our house. I am in Texas working and Terrie doesn't want to go up alone. We will go in Saturday at noon, along with Terrie's sister. We know they have lost a garage, a shed, truck and utility trailer and some other items. But their home is still standing. It was smoking when the firefighters arrived, but they got water on it and it's still standing. Ours sounds to be in good shape, but until we get in we won't know about smoke damage.

They hope to be able to restore utilities in about three weeks. This has been a very traumatic experience for our family. We thank everyone for their prayers and are thankful that no lives were lost. Unfortunately, tomorrow 49 families have to go see the burned remains of their homes. We wish them well and they are in our prayers.

Thanks for the update. We hope that you find very little damage to your house. And here's hoping Terrie's sister doesn't have a lot of damage to go back to. We are praying for you during this traumatic experience.

You and all of your neighbors are in our prayers. As one who has witnessed the distruction that a wild fire can do, my heart goes out to everyone.

Hopefully everything is in fair shape when you get back there and have a look. I can't even imagine the anticipation of going back seeing what may or may not be. Good luck to you and your sister and have the best days you can.
