securing recliners for travel

When we looked at our 2009 3455SA at the dealer, we asked about flipping the locations of the sofa and recliners. They measured and found our sofa could be placed in the rear and the slides were able to clear it. They did the switch for us. We have been living in the unit since we purchased it last March.

Now, about a month ago we decided to put the sofa and chairs back to their original locations. We are both now retired and in 10 days we take off to travel fulltime. We see there are 4 anchors on the floor for securing the recliners.

However, we have no idea of the configuration and method to secure the chairs during travel. Can anyone enlighted us? Thanks.

If you have the adjustable straps, the way ours came were the chairs face the front and the straps are attached to the hooks. when the straps are attacehd to the hooks with the metal clips, the straps are then brought up over the arms of the chairs and clipped together above the rear of the seat. The straps are then tightened snugly to minimize rocking. Since ours are now in the slide, I use the straps to tie them together back to back with a pillow positioned between the upper backs of the chairs. Hope this is explained in an understandable fashion.

In the cabinets above the recliners there should be some straps that are used with the anchors that you found on the floor. You can strap the recliners down to the floor using the straps. We don't use them in the way they were intended. We turn our recliners back to back and use the straps to tie the backs together with a towel or pillow between them to protect the backs of the recliners. We have found that the recliners won't really move on the carpet while traveling.

In our 3075RL, we swapped the dining table and chairs with the recliners. We use the straps to tie down the table and chairs. We, like the others, put our recliners back to back snugged up to each other with a blanket between them. In our previous SOB's we never had been confronted with the prospect of straps attached to the floor. We'd never had a problem before turning the recliners back to back, so have just continued. We really do like the straps to hold the table down because the base is so small.

We used to tie them down to the anchors but now we just turn the recliners back to back and put a long bungee cord around them together and they never move.

We do the same thing.

That's what we did when we had our 2002 Cedar Creek - me thinks we will be doing the same with the 3455. Seems much simpler than messing with those clamps. Thanks for the replies.

If you have a computer desk chair and/or end table they can be secured upside down in the rockers with the adjustable straps as well.

We just turn ours sideways so they clear the slide and they are fine. We purchased ours in a furniture store.
