Al, does your closet run across the back, from side to side? If so, we had one of those once and were shown a solution by another camper that worked extremely well. Just put the hangers in backwards so that the open part of the hanger is to the front. Worked for us, anyhow.

We had the same problem when we had our Prowler travel trailer. We put a pair of cabinet door hinges (the self closing ones) on a 1/2 inch piece of wood the length of the clothes rod. When it is in the closed position it's closes against the hook of the hangers and keeps them from falling off. When we were camped you just flipped it up and it was out of the way. That way the hangers stay on the clothes bar but the slacks just fall off the hangers. Can't win sometimes.

Our rig has the closet across the back. We had the same problem and solved it per Steve and Vicki...all hangers with the open part facing forward. No clue as to "why" but it works. Another plan is to put a pillow between the top of the hangert bar and the bottom of the closet shelf. Full timing for almost two years..

Best,

We have the closet across the back and hte last trip the entire thing fell not because of the hanger the little screws pulled out the rod fell. so I put new screws in an put some wood blocle behind to screw into and no problem yet.

My clothing rod broke loose also I went and got a 3/4 in pipe and hac it threaded on each end and then got two of the fittings that fasten pipe to a wall and have 4 screws to hold it in place and this pipe will not break

We have used the hang the hanger with the opening facing you method with great success. Don't travel with a great many clothes as we are not full timers so have not run into rod collapses. However we did have an entire closet collapse once in an apartment. So guess that rod failure is not unheard of.
