New Montana

Hello,
Just traded in a 40 foot Diesel Pusher for a New Montana High Country 375FL.
We are currently planning to use our Dodge ram 2500 HD SLT V10 to pull it locally but are shopping for a good tow vehicle to take us anywhere.
We are Full Timers and will soon take delivery and learn how to do with even less stuff than we had in the DP. We are excited to get rid of the 12 year old coach into something new.
this is the first 5ver I have owned. I have had lots of bumper TT's and two Motor Homes but know little about 5vers other than to listen to the neighbors.
We are looking forward to hitting the road again full time this fall.

Welcome to the MOC! This forum is an excellent source of information for your new Montana. You can learn a lot about 5th wheels in general here as well. I also was new to 5th wheels when I joined and owe pretty much everything I know to the contributors of this forum. I hope you find it as helpful.

Welcome to the group! I traded a 40 foot Winnebago for a 3750FL. I believe it's one of the few smart things I ever did

Well, we did the same...going from dp to fifth wheel. Learning to back the fifth is a chore, at times easy, others a beast, always interesting. Enjoy. John

Welcome to the forum! May your new rig bring you many years of wonderful memories. Many of us here full time and many of us were new to 5rh wheels at the start and owe our knowledge to those before us on this forum. Don't be afraid to ask questions and don't feel bad if the answer seems simple after you think about it. No one is mean here and all of us have had questions we needed answered that seemed simple when we got the answer.

Welcome from another "Zonie"! We purchased our 2012 3455SA a few years ago. We owe a great deal of our success in happy travels to the members on this forum. Great advice, years of knowledge, served with a dose of humor every now and then. We have owned motorhomes, bumper pull and 5th wheel toy haulers over the years...the Montana is by far the best rig for comfortable travels. Enjoy your new home on wheels and make lots of new friends and memories.

I've always been curious about the comparison in mileage and comfort between a DP and a 5th wheel. We are brand new to FT and love our Monty and our TV, and just drove 650 miles from Arkansas to Georgia averaging 11.4 mpg. Very satisfied and seems like less potential mechanical/maintenance issues. Congrats on your new rig and welcome to the forum.

I had a 40' DP for the last 6 years fulltiming. The average mileage i could get either pulling a toad (4 wheels down)or a small car hauler for my BMW was 8 mpg of Diesel the most expensive fuel. My fuel consumption was typical of most other Diesel Pushers of the same length. Annual Maintenance cost on the DP was outrageous and on my coach averaged 10.000 annually and you had to find a Freightliner/freightliner dealer for most of it. I now have a Montana HC to lower this cost.

Well the New Montana High Country 375FL is not doing so well. I bought it 10 weeks ago have paid for 2 months of payments and it is still in the shop. Total of 5 weeks in the shop or 50% of the time in the shop, and 50% of the time minus 1 day waiting to get into the shop. My pleasant travels have been between one of three shops and the local campground.
