break disconnect solved
Received breake disconnect errors on my new Ford F350 TD truck. Found out voltage was only about one volt. Took truck to Harold Zeigler Ford in Elkhart, IN. They confirmed low voltage. They replaced the TBC module. That corrected the low voltage error. They had to keep my truck overnight so they provided a loaner vehicle for the day. My truck was built in Jan '05. Of course the new truck warranty covered the cost. Over all my experience was great.

Northstar, was the low voltage measured by using the manual brake lever? If so, you got lucky that Ziegler isn't up on all the bulletins. All the TBC built prior to 3/23/05 have this same "feature". Ford considers it normal, per a bulletin. But they still changed this "feature" starting 3/23/05. I found this out when I tried to get mine replaced. Ford says replacement will be on me, not warranty, because there is nothing wrong. Technically they are correct because applying brakes with the brake pedal does send the proper voltage to the brakes. If I were in Indiana right now I'd be headed to Ziegler to complain about my TBC and see if they'd replace it for me. Not having the voltage applied via the manual lever makes it much more difficult to pop the slider on our hitch. Fortunately I rarely need the slider anyhow.

Steve, I will try to answer your question with a quote from the work order:
"Cause: 11797 42 performed WDS system test and received code C2808,
performed pinpoint test and found no power to brake.
Replaced TBC mod and retest. System operating properly after repair."
I am not sure how they tested the brake. I hope the above helps to answer your question.

Thanks, Walter. That's different than what I was talking about. Yours sounds like it really was faulty while mine is just a change in design.
