Vipermanden: If you already have a 50amp receptacle that you can use to power your RV from your house and it looks like this one: http://www.homedepot.com/p/GE-50-Amp...054P/100193650 Then you are good to go from the house end. This is used in many applications as in a modern 50amp stove receptacle. When you are wiring for 50amp service to your RV you do have 230v going to the RV via 2 x 115v legs so don't be concerned about that.

Now to extend your service to the 75' you want, why not just buy a 50' x 50amp RV extension cord like this one: http://www.homedepot.com/b/Electrica...s/N-5yc1vZc4ny For under $165.00 you can have what you want, and I do not believe you can get one made by an electrician for that price.

If you start from your house with the extension and use your supplied cord for the RV you will not have to worry about the end that fits into the RV either...win, win...

Good luck

Thanks to all of you guys. My electrician has been doing this for over 30 years, and is a RVer, so I think we will be OK. I will test the ends of the cord when he is done to make sure volts are correct.

I use a small 1 foot cord that plugs in the back of trailer and then use a very heavy gauge extension cord that plugs into my electrical outlet and the other one plugs into the 1 foot cord. My electrical cord stays in the basement so I don't have to deal with it and not worried if it will get stolen. You can buy those short cords at Camper World.

Just a suggestion, instead of making one 50' extension cord, either make 2-25' cords or go to the store and buy 2 ready made extension cords. You may never have the need for a 50'er while traveling, but 2-25'ers are easier to store and move around when needed. Oh yeah, the price for scrap copper is around $2.50 a pound, striped.

If you are only running the refrig. and some lights why not get a "#ten wire extension cord and a fifty amp to 20 amp adapter. Be sure to plug into a 20 amp outlet. The male plug on the cord should be the same as all other 50 amp RV plugs. If the electrician is asking if the plug is male or female I would seek another electrician.
