Another happy SuperGlide owner here. We first had the 16K slider on our '04 GMC and purchased new under bed brackets for installation on the Ford. As mentioned with the new front cap you may not need a slider but one claim negates the difference in price.

I started with a super glide in 2005 and will have it 4 ever . It is hard on the tires at 90% but if you saw my driveway you would know I need a super glide . I must turn at a 90 % and just stop and go ahead a few inches and your tires will be back to normal and then turn some more . ask Emmel. he saw my driveway

I have the manual slide Reese 20K with round tubes. Don't use it very often, but it has come in handy a few times. With the weight of the Monty on the hitch, it makes it extremely difficult to slide the hitch back to "travel" position, and the noise (sliding) is awful. Then you have to get the safety pin in place.

Reese owners manual, the short version, says to park on a flat spot lower landing gear firmly to the ground, and slowly pull truck forward to the maneuver position , don't know if I like that idea to well.

PSFORD99, there is never a problem pulling forward which moves the hitch back. The problem is getting the hitch back in the tow position by backing the truck up with the trailer brakes engaged.

you don't need a slide hitch....just always be aware of your movements.

i do have a manual slider hitch and have tried to used it....with trailer on the truck...it really doesn't seem to move very easily....if i had the money i'd go for an automatic hitch though.

When we bought our 2013 3100RL we all so bought a pullright 16k super glide. This was the first fifth wheel for us and we wanted one less issue to deal with when we were jockeying the trailer. The first time we went out was Fishing Bridge at YNP. Talk a about a tight site for a newbie with a fifth wheel but the hitch paid for itself. We arrived after dark and not having to worry about turning the truck into trailer was well worth the cost.

X2 on that. Luckily you can usually drop the trailer before you have to move it back to travel.

I experienced all the difficulties other have mentioned with their manual slider. The Reese was a little more difficult than the Husky I currently have. I have found that if you keep the slider assembly (rollers and tubes) well lubricated it works pretty easy. No matter what the position the 5'er is to the truck mine goes into the manuver position with out issue. To return to the towing position the truck has to be pretty much in line with the 5'er. This is all done without lowering the landing gear to take weight off the hitch. Jim

I have an 18k Superglide and have found it very useful for tight spots. I don't have to worry about the RV hitting the cab and the need to have my wife watch where I am going..

I wanted an air ride hitch and there isn't one that I know of that comes with an auto slider. Therefore, I got the TrailerSaver BD3 air ride hitch with their manual slide option. The air ride and MorRyde pin box is a great combo and I love it. I have used the manual slide twice. Not sure I needed it with the front cap on the Monty, but it's easy to use...so no biggy. If I think I will need it when maneuvering, I use it. If not, I don't. Since the air ride was my highest priority, the manual slide was the option for me. I'm very happy with my choice.

Thanks everyone for the great advice. I purchased a 16k Superglide yesterday. Now just have to get it installed and then purchase a Monty! My Monty will be a little older, so the front caps won't be as friendly. Therefore the Superglide will come in handy.

Our first Montana was a 2006. We were able to get the dealer to do the install of the SuperGlide in the negotiation. We paid 700 for hitch with super rails and capture plate.
