Waste and water tank heaters

This question may be in a past forum that I have not found---I am curious as to how the tank heaters work--on my last trailer I had a switch to turn them off and on--no switches on the Montie--I assume the Montie has a thermostat that controls the heaters on the waste and water tanks--??????

The heating duct dose the tank heating. There are no switches. That is why you must run the furnace when the temps are cold. You can run a electric heater but use the furnace for most of the heat.

Thanxx for the reply---makes sense-- I guess it really isn't an issue since I will be totally winterized but I might get caught with low temps before I get the job done--

I have a small heater/fan under the floor. I put it right next to the steps above the belly skin. When it dasterdly cold, I plug it in to keep tanks from freezing and belly warm. I bought the best one I could find, and the safest...tip over switch..and it keeps the floors warm, and tanks and lines thawed out. If you just want to keep tanks thawed, keep it on the lowest setting. I use the 500 watt setting on low temperature. I screwed the heater to a nonflamable piece of bakelight. You can buy bakelite at hardware stores. It's dark brown.
