Those with kingsize beds, and Queens too I guess..
Do the struts actually hold up your bed by themselves? Mine don't, and it bugs me!
Can you get stronger struts to accomplish this, or would they make the bed pop up by itself while traveling?

Depends on what mood they are in. Sometimes it will stay up (barely), others it goes down.

On our king bed, the struts hold it up fine. In fact, I have to give it a pretty good shove to get it back down. It has never lifted up during travel.

We have a queen but it is 17 inches thick, and weighs more than a standard king. Ours stays up as long as you don't have anything other than the sheets and bed spread on the end of the bed. A small bit of laundry will make it drop. The only time it opens by itself is without any mattress on it then it can smack you in the chin (don't ask). If you can move the arms toward the foot of the bed a few inches it may work better. If not, then stronger arms would be needed... Dave

Unless Piccola and/or Lupo decide they HAVE to be on the end of the bed as I go to lift it (King size), it stays up (or down) on its own.

Ours stays up by itself. We have the king mattress that came with the 5th wheel with 3" foam topper.

Mine stays up fine (Queen) with blanket and comforter on it. Sounds like the struts are worn out. When the bed is down, the struts should be nearly horizontal, so they don't exert much upward force on the plywood base
I've used these guys for struts on the busses I maintain - their prices are good, and shipping is fast

They can help you pick the right struts for your application

One more for the king size staying up with the struts, and yeah, takes a pretty good shove to get it back down. We may be rethinking this as DW may want to a queen size in the future so I may end up remanfacturing the wood top to fit.

I would hope not! They are on my '09 3605RL that we just got in November.
Thanks for the link anyway.

We have a king w/ a 3" topper and agree with the others. It stays up fine and takes a good push to get it back down. Has never popped up on us.

KT - I think they have leaked out. Ours hold the bed fine. They may be factory defects or damaged in storage.

Looks like a warranty item to me. I saw on the link posted above, some spring actuated struts that might be better. No gas to leak out, but will see first if Keystone will fix them for free.

With the 4 inch foam topper our struts are worthless. We use have to lift manually and brace with a 2x2.
Compounding our situation on weight is the fact that when we modified our queen base board for the king mattress, we had to screw another, slightly wider, 1/4 plywood sheet on top of the existing plywood base. Extra weight for this mod is not something I was crazy about, but well worth the benefits of the king bed with 4" foam. Best sleep ever.
Struts are a non-issue, however. Also, as we only use that area under the bed (w/ the false panel removed) for long term storage, we don't access that area more than 2-3 times all winter while we are here in FL.
